RTA Installs 17,500 Directional Parking Signs Across Dubai To Explain Parking Fees & More

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is constantly working towards public safety and aims to make things convenient for the public. And now, to ensure that people can pay parking fees without any hassle, RTA has installed over 17,500 new directional signs in parking control zones across Dubai. The newly installed signboards provide all the details about public parking fees, service hours, and four payment channels. Through these sign boards, RTA aims to offer the best solutions for parking use, thereby ensuring that the customers are happy. Read on for all the deets.

When it comes to paying parking fees, as per RTA data, 80 per cent of customers prefer paying their service fees via phones and smart tablets, and to ensure that the customers pay their fees online without any trouble, the sign boards will display four payment options for public parking. The new sign boards have clear visibility at night and include four QR codes for payment methods alongside the zone code, making it easier for users to pay directly through varied channels.

Speaking about this, Osama Al Safi, Director of Parking, Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “The QR codes encompass a reader for downloading RTA’s app and another for payment through the WhatsApp app where the customer is directed to the payment service via WhatsApp. The system then initiates an interactive chat with the customer to enter the vehicle details and the parking period, after which the customer will receive a confirmation message. The service also enables the customer to select previously registered vehicles instead of entering them again.”

And if you are low on data, you will be happy to know that when you scan the QR code payment service via SMS, you don’t need a data package to make the payment, and it takes you to a page that explains how to benefit from the service along with the format of text messages. There’s also an option to generate an SMS after entering vehicle information and selecting the number of hours.

With four available modes and explanatory signboards, paying for parking in Dubai got easier- all thanks to RTA.
