The holy month of Ramadan is almost about to end with 10 days of fasting left, fasting Muslims in the UAE will now be fasting for more than 14 hours from today, April 11th. It is due to the change in the season, and as summer approaches, daylight hours will be longer, and the fasting time for the remainder of Ramadan will continue to increase. Read on to know more.
As per the Emirates Astronomical Society, in the initial days of Ramadan, people were fasting for 13 hours and 46 minutes; however, as we approach Eid Al Fitr, the fasting time will go up to 14 hours, and 13 minutes on one day.

Speaking about the increased duration, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society, said the exact fasting duration might depend on the location of the person in each emirate; however, the difference will be of a few minutes and not more. And as the summers approach, days will get longers, and the nights will get shorter towards the end of Ramadan.
In terms of fasting, Muslims in Reykjavík, Iceland, will have the record this year and are expected to fast 16 hours and 50 minutes daily. Whereas, Muslims in New Zealand, Argentina and South Africa have a shorter duration and fast for 11-12 hours a day.

When it comes to Eid, as per the astronomical calculations, Eid Al Fitr will fall from April 20th until Sunday, April 23, in the UAE. However, the exact dates will be confirmed closer to the time by the Moon-sighting committee.
