Dubai Airport Launches A New Biometric System, Scraps Passport & Boarding Passes

Dubai is one of the most futuristic cities in the world. From dog robots to flying taxis and a museum dedicated to the future, the city never fails to amaze us. And to ensure passengers’ hassel-free experience at the airport, Dubai has launched new and improved smart gates. Thanks to these gates, passengers arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB) can check in swiftly without their passport or boarding pass. Read on for all the deets.

As per the update on the DubaiAirports website, passengers arriving and departing from DXB Terminal 3 can avail of this service and enjoy a speedy check-in in matter of seconds using the new smart gates featuring a new contactless process. 

Well, if you are planning to visit Dubai soon and will be landing at Terminal 3, all you have to do is register for the smart gates. Once registered, you can enjoy this hassle free process for free. However, you must also remember to remove anything covering your face – masks, glasses and hats. It is also advisable to keep the passports and boarding passes handy just in case they’re needed.

How Can Passengers Avail of This Service? 

Flyers can register their biometric data at the self-check-in kiosks or the Emirates app. 

Who Can Use The Smart Gates?

UAE and GCC Nationals, UAE Residents, and Visa-on-Arrival guests with biometric passports. And if you have travelled through DXB recently, you’ll likely be registered to use this service. 

Who Shouldn’t Use This Service? 

Passengers aged 15 years and below, or under 1.2 metres in height, families with children, people of determination and guests with large strollers aren’t advised to use this service. 

Besides, this service is a boon for travellers and will make the check-in process seamless and hassle-free. So next time you are at the airport, ensure that you register at the self-check-in kiosks or via the emirates app and make your journey fun.
