From now until the 17th of May, prepare to be dazzled as your favourite A-listers dazzle on the glorious red carpet of this legendary extravaganza. For those who are unversed, Cannes is the place where the crème de la crème of feature films, documentaries, short films, and all sorts of cinematic wonders are showcased with jaw-dropping flair, year after fabulous year. 

The red carpet is about to get a serious dose of Bollywood glam! As our beloved tinsel town superstars will be seen at the Cannes Film Festival. We’ve got a bunch of regular attendees including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and many more. But wait, this year is about to be super exciting with a bunch of debuts that will make your Bollywood-loving souls scream with excitement.

1) Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma, a seasoned actress with more than a decade of experience in the industry, was the first one from the list to be officially confirmed as one of the debutants at Cannes 2023. Her presence on the red carpet is anticipated with great excitement, as she brings a remarkable blend of elegance and grace. Anushka is certainly well deserved and will be seen alongside Kate Winslet in an event at Cannes to honour women in cinema.

2) Sara Ali Khan 

This charismatic actress has truly captured our hearts with her vivacious personality and stellar performances in films. She will be gracing the big screen in the upcoming movie ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ alongside Vicky Kaushal. While there were previously only speculations about her attendance at Cannes, all doubts were put to rest when Sara shared a glimpse of her presence in the French Riviera on her Instagram story. It’s official: she has confirmed her participation at the prestigious event.

3) Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur, an acclaimed rising star in the Bollywood industry, is poised to make her grand entrance on the prestigious Cannes red carpet. She commenced her career in the television domain, captivating audiences with her notable portrayal in the Star Plus series ‘Mujhse Kuchh Kehti… Yeh Khamoshiyaan’. She subsequently attained immense recognition for her remarkable performance in the drama ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, which aired on Zee TV. Venturing into the realm of Bollywood, she marked her debut with the impactful films Love Sonia’ and ‘Super 30’, wherein she shared the screen with Hrithik Roshan. Furthermore, she continued to astound viewers with her talent in movies such as ‘Toofan’ and ‘Jersey’. Now, the time has come for her to radiate her brilliance at the esteemed Cannes Film Festival.

4) Manushi Chillar 

Manushi Chhillar, a mesmerizing blend of Bollywood charm and the grace of a reigning Miss World 2017 is set to make her sensational debut. Having already captivated audiences with her debut alongside the esteemed Akshay Kumar in ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’, Manushi now graces the red carpet to honour the remarkable achievements of women in the world of cinema.

5) Esha Gupta

Esha Gupta, who once held the title of Miss India International 2007 and represented our nation with grace is set to make her debut on the red carpet. Esha’s long-awaited debut on this prestigious stage is destined to be a celebration of India’s rich heritage and cultural brilliance. As an ambassador of Indian culture, she will be joining the illustrious ranks of Oscar-nominated Guneet Monga, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, and Manipuri actor Kangabam Tomba at the Indian pavilion. 

6) Shannon Kumar Sanu

Shannon K, who is the daughter of renowned singer Kumar Sanu, will be making her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. Shannon entered the music industry in 2018 with the launch of her single ‘Poo Bear’. In 2020, she ventured into acting and made her debut in Hollywood with the film ‘The Big Feed’.

7) Dolly Singh

We have all adored her on Instagram time and again and now we get to see our favourite influencer on the red carpet! Dolly Singh’s star soared high as she became a household name, captivating audiences with her content creation. She unveiled a multitude of memorable characters including the endearing Raju Ki Mummy, the South Delhi Girl, Guddi Bhabhi, and a whole array of others, solidifying her position as a true force to be reckoned with in the digital realm.

This event has been held since 1946, showcases the best films of the year and features a highly-esteemed jury that determines the winners of various awards, including the coveted Palme d’Or (highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival).

One of the festival’s most notable traditions is the walk up the famous red carpet-covered steps, which film personalities take before each screening. Walking up the 24 steps is considered a great honour and privilege for those in the film industry. The Cannes Film Festival truly stands as a testament to the art and power of cinema, and its influence on the world of entertainment will undoubtedly continue for many years to come.
