Burj Khalifa’s Boulevard closed down for SRK’s Pathaan

On January 25th, Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated film “Pathan” burst onto the scene and quickly became a box office phenomenon. But for fans of the spy-thriller, directed by Sidharth Anand and produced by Yash Raj Films, there’s more to be excited about. In a recent revelation, Anand divulged that a famous location in the glittering city of Dubai was shut down for the first time ever to accommodate the filming of an epic action sequence. This just goes to show the lengths the team went to bring this pulse-pounding spy story to life.

The film’s explosive action sequences have been hailed as a landmark achievement, elevating the standards of Hindi cinema to rival that of Hollywood. But the real cherry on top is the electrifying showdown between SRK (as Pathaan) and Abraham (as the villainous Jim) in Dubai. The team pulled out all the stops to make this scene a reality, shutting down the iconic Burj Khalifa boulevard for the first time ever for a film. “Pathaan” is making history with its box office success, becoming the highest-grossing original language film in Hindi cinema, raking in more than Dh369 million, and setting the record for the biggest opening weekend for any Bollywood film in the UAE.

In a recent revelation, Director Siddharth Anand disclosed that the team behind the hit film “Pathaan” was granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to shoot an epic action sequence featuring SRK and John Abraham in the bustling Burj Khalifa Boulevard. The Dubai police, recognizing the significance of the film, went above and beyond to help the team execute the shoot, closing down the entire location for the first time ever for a film production.

Anand spoke of the challenges of bringing this scene to life, saying, “The action in ‘Pathaan’ is second to none, from soaring through the skies to racing on top of a moving train. But the most daring of them all was the showdown in Dubai, set amidst the hustle and bustle of the Burj Khalifa Boulevard. It was a feat that even Hollywood couldn’t achieve. But the Dubai police and authorities made it happen for us.”

Shah Rukh Khan himself had nothing but praise for the city of Dubai and the film industry, stating, “Dubai has always been incredibly supportive of Indian cinema, and I am grateful for their continued hospitality. The city is a hub for international film production, with top-notch equipment, facilities, and location managers. It was an absolute pleasure to shoot there.”
