In a delightful surprise for Bollywood fans, the much-awaited trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday starrer Dream Girl 2 was unveiled today, and it has left the audience buzzing with excitement. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster, Dream Girl, promises to be a roller-coaster ride of fun, laughter, and heartwarming romance.
Dream Girl 2 sees the return of Ayushmann Khurrana as the lovable Pooja, the man with a unique talent of impersonating female voices. However, the twist this time is that Pooja will not only charm his callers but also captivate the hearts of the viewers with his enchanting on-screen romance with the young and dynamic Ananya Panday.
Ananya Panday talks about her age-gap with Ayushmann Khurrana
For fans who have been eagerly waiting to witness the magic of this fresh pairing, Dream Girl 2 marks the first time Ayushmann and Ananya have shared the silver screen together. Their chemistry in the trailer is undeniable and promises to be one of the major highlights of the film.
One aspect that has been gaining attention since the trailer’s release is the notable age gap between the lead actors. With Ayushmann Khurrana being 38 years old and Ananya Panday being 24, there is a considerable age difference of 14 years between them. However, age is just a number when it comes to the magic of cinema, and the trailer proves that their on-screen equation is far from affected by the age disparity.
Talking about the age-gap, Ananya Panday shared, “I don’t think ye aaj ka issue hai. (I don’t think it’s an issue). The age-gap has always been there. I don’t think people should think about the age when watching the film. They’re thinking of the age then it’s a problem. Agar do log character mein suit hote hai, toh it’s alright.”
She also shared her experience working with co-star Ayushmann Khurrana, “Maine unse bohot seekha. Joh adaye unhone laye hai, latak-matak gaane mein, (I learned a lot from him. The grace he brought, in swaying and grooving to the songs) I was fully like ‘How are you moving like that?’. I was trying to copy him. I didn’t give him any tips. He has actually given me tips. I enjoyed shooting with Pooja more than Ayushmann.”
Bollywood has witnessed several instances of successful on-screen pairings involving an older male actor and a younger female actress. The industry has been evolving to embrace diverse narratives and relationships, breaking away from the conventional norms of the past. The acceptance of such pairings reflects the changing dynamics and progressive mindset of both the filmmakers and the audience.
Raaj Shaandilyaa has directed Dream Girl 2. Apart from Ayushmann and Ananya, the sequel also stars Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, and Rajpal Yadav among others. It will release on 25th August.
