You Can Now Renew Your Emirates ID From Anywhere Around The World, Here’s How

If you have been living in the UAE for a while, you know the importance of the renewal of Emirates Id. However, there are times when we are travelling and have to drop everything to come back to the country to renew the id or plan the trips to keep the renewal date in mind. And if you go through this too, we have good news for you. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has announced a new Emirates ID renewal service for Emiratis living abroad and here’s everything you must know.

Use The Smart App, Upload All The Necessary Documents & Renew Your Emirates ID

As per the new scheme, you can now renew your Emirates ID without being physically present in the UAE to complete the process. Previously applicants had to return to the UAE to renew their ID; however, now the process can be done via the authority’s new smart app. In an interview with Noor Dubai, Nasser Al Abdoli, Director of Customers’ Happiness Centres, confirmed that you could use the smart app to renew your Emirates ID and pay the fees via the app.

The best part about the smart app is that it will provide step-by-step instructions and guidelines, making the process simple for everyone. From required documents like a valid passport, current Emirates ID and other necessary documents, the app will guide you through everything. You also need to follow the dress code for their photos while uploading them on the app. As per the authorities, the photo should be coloured with a white background, and the dimensions must be 35mm by 40mm.

For renewals, Emiratis can apply for their Emirates ID renewal six months before the expiry date for AED270. If you fill out the form after the expiry, you will pay AED20 per day as a late fine.
