On a solemn morning in Mumbai on 20th April, the beloved spouse of the late iconic Bollywood director Yash Chopra, the graceful Pamela Chopra, bid her final farewell at the age of 74. The news of her departure has sent shockwaves throughout the film fraternity, with countless members expressing their heartfelt sympathies for the departed soul.

Pamela Chopra’s love and legacy live on through her two sons, the visionary head of Yash Raj Films Aditya Chopra and actor Uday Chopra. The family united in grief, shared a poignant statement that confirmed the news of her passing and provided details of her last rites. “With heavy hearts, the Chopra family would like to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11 am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to request for privacy in this moment of deep sadness and reflection,” the statement read.

According to a report by Indian Express, Pamela Chopra was admitted to Lilavati Hospital for 15 days due to pneumonia. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she couldn’t overcome the illness and breathed her last today. Dr. Prahlad Prabhudesai, who was attending to her, confirmed that she had been on a ventilator during her hospital stay. The family is yet to make an official statement about this heartbreaking development.

Pamela Chopra was a multi-talented artist who wore many hats in the entertainment industry. Her contributions to Yash Raj Films productions extended beyond her roles as a co-producer, costume designer, and writer. She also lent her melodious voice to numerous songs in films like ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Noorie’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Silsila’, and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. Her creative imprint on the films was indelible, with her credited work including the screenplay for ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ and the costume design for ‘Silsila’ and ‘Sawaal’. Even in her later years, she remained a pillar of support for YRF, appearing in their docu-series which was her last appearance on camera ‘The Romantics’ to commemorate the studio’s 50-year legacy. In the show, she shared insights into her journey, the enduring career of her late husband Yash Chopra, and how their son Aditya Chopra took the mantle forward.
