Wynn Marjan: UAE’s first casino to have ‘rich non-gaming’ facilities; CEO reveals

UAE’s first casino, Wynn Marjan is set to open doors in Ras Al Khaimah very soon. Back in January 2022, it was announced that Wynn Marjan will be the brand’s first property in the region. Following this, Wynn Resorts unveiled the first look of the ultra-luxurious multi-billion-dollar property that’s set to stun residents. But, that’s not it. In a recent update Craig Billings, CEO, Wynn Resorts said that the resort will have rich non-gaming amenities, majority of which can be enjoyed independently of the gaming area.

The AED14.3 billion resort will be first integrated resort in the Middle East and North Africa region. A pristine, sun-soaked manmade island, RAK was a perfect fit for the UAE’s first Casion, said Billings. “The importance of the relationship between the resort, in particular the resort’s podium and the beach, the sea and the sun, all informed our programming decision, ultimately leading us to impart a concave curvature to the podium that tracks the beach. Thus, the beach-facing side of that podium, which is lined with exciting, high-energy food and beverage outlets, forms an amphitheatre of sorts from which to take in the stunning environment, the energy of the property and our outdoor entertainment,” Billings said during a webcast recently.

He further added that the team studied the opportunity in the UAE and were increasingly convinced in the customer’s willingness to spend on luxury hotel, food and beverage, wellness and entertainment experiences. However, Billings expects Wynn Al Marjan island to be much more akin to the Las Vegas operations, driving meaningful non-gaming revenues.

RAK’s Wynn Resorts’ will boast 1,500 rooms, a casino, spa & much more

Wynn Al Marjan boasts will be docked 1,000 feet above the sea , and will boast a whole lot of amenities including 1500 rooms, suites, villas, world-class shopping, a state-of-the-art meeting and convention facility, an upscale spa, more than ten restaurants and lounges, a wide range of entertainment options, and a licensed gaming area.

Besides, the serene and stylish interiors of the resort draw inspiration from the surrounding ocean. The same geometric configuration of the curved shape of the beach on the island is echoed through the podium structure, similar to a great opera house, creating majestic views of the beach, sea and the horizon. Every diner in the abundant restaurant offerings lining the beach-facing promenade at Wynn Al Marjan Island will enjoy sweeping views of the sea.

As for the entertainment options, Craig Billings, chief executive of Wynn Resorts confirmed that Wynn Al Marjan Island will be the UAE’s first casino. And, this one’s expected to be bigger than Wynn Las Vegas. Besides, a theatre, and daily light and laser shows are also on the cards for this much-anticipated resort.

The resort is anticipated to cost a staggering USD3.9 billion (AED 14.32 billion). Construction has already started and is expected to be completed in 2027.

Positioning itself as a sustainable and nature-based destination, Ras Al Khaimah is one of the fastest growing tourism markets in the MENA region. With its well- preserved history, rich archaeological heritage, and nature tourism offerings, the Emirate earned a place on the list of CNN Travel‘s best 50 destinations to visit in 2023 and featured on TIME magazine’s World’s Greatest Places in 2022.
