After being on hold for years, the plan for Palm Jebel Ali construction is unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai. On Wednesday, May 31st, Sheikh Mohammed approved the new master plan for Palm Jebel Ali – a luxury lifestyle mega project, and here’s everything you must know.

Once ready, Palm Jebel Ali will be twice the size of Palm Jumeirah and include 80 hotels and resorts, green spaces, waterfalls and other leisure and retail amenities spanning 13.4 square kilometres. Besides this, the project will also feature 110 kilometres of additional coastline, offering beachside living to 35,000 families. The project is being developed by Nakheel and is a part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
Speaking about the mega project and future, Sheikh Mohammed said, “We have vast ambitions for the future and we are confident that we can transform our grand vision for development into reality. Palm Jebel Ali will further strengthen our urban infrastructure and consolidate the city’s emergence as one of the world’s leading metropolises. This new groundbreaking project reflects our strategic development plan centred on raising the quality of life and happiness of residents.”

Dubai is home to several islands, and Palm Jebel Ali will add more to the opulence and luxury the emirate has to offer.
This announcement comes a week after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved the ‘Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches’ that aims to increase the total length of public beaches in the emirate by 400%. The plan, which forms part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, features the opening of new beaches and the development of existing ones with advanced facilities.
Under the ‘Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches’, the total length of Dubai’s public beaches will increase from 21 km to 105 km by 2040. Public beaches spanning 84 km will be added to cater to the growth in the emirate’s population and the influx of tourists from all over the world. The new Master Plan demonstrates Dubai’s commitment to providing unique experiences for beachgoers in line with the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to consolidate the emirate’s status as one of the top three cities for tourism.
