Winter Safety Alert: Abu Dhabi Police’s Campaign to Protect Families

7th Edition of the Winter Safety Drive - Protecting Families and Communities this Winter

Abu Dhabi Police has launched the 7th edition of its annual ‘Our Winter is Safe and Enjoyable’ campaign, emphasizing public safety during the cooler months. In partnership with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority and other organizations, the initiative urges families to adopt precautionary measures to ensure a safe and pleasant winter season.

Keeping Children Safe in the Digital Age

As schools break for the winter holidays, children often spend more time online. Abu Dhabi Police calls on parents to stay vigilant about their children’s activities, emphasizing the importance of protecting them from cyberbullying, online blackmail, and exposure to violent games. Parents are advised to choose safe and educational digital content and maintain open conversations about the potential dangers lurking in cyberspace.

Outdoor Activities with Safety in Mind

The campaign also focuses on ensuring safety during outdoor leisure activities, such as cycling and picnics. Cyclists are encouraged to use designated paths, wear protective gear, and avoid areas with heavy vehicle traffic. Additionally, families heading to parks or camping sites should follow safety guidelines, dispose of waste properly, practice fire safety measures, and respect designated barbecue zones.

Road Safety Measures

Winter travel often involves road trips, making vehicle maintenance a critical safety aspect. Drivers should thoroughly check their vehicles, including tires, oil, and brakes, before long journeys. Abu Dhabi Police also stresses the importance of adhering to road regulations, using seat belts, and avoiding distractions like mobile phones while driving.

Community Responsibility for Safer Winters

This campaign reinforces the message of shared responsibility for safety. Residents should promptly report unsafe behaviors and emergencies to ensure a safer environment for all. Public awareness programs and workshops continue to play a pivotal role in educating the community about preventive measures.

Stay Informed and Safe

Abu Dhabi Police’s efforts underline the importance of staying informed about potential risks and taking proactive steps to minimize them. For residents and visitors, this initiative is a reminder to prioritize safety while enjoying the season’s festivities.
