For eight years, a restaurant in Sharjah has provided free meals to the underprivileged; and now the restaurant has extended this offer to visitors who are on visit visa.
Sharjah’s Karachi Star restaurant offers free meals to anyone who visits their restaurants in Muweilah and Saja, Sharjah. The noble offer is also meant for people who are unemployed, traveling on a visitor visa, or whose visa has expired. No matter what nation they may be from, the restaurant will provide this assistance to anyone in need.
“We offer this service to people in need, irrespective of any country they belong to. We don’t have any terms and conditions for such people. They can order anything available on that day,” Shahid Asghar Bangash, owner of Karachi Star Restaurant was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.
The restaurant is primarily frequented by unemployed individuals from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Africa- who come to the UAE on a visitor’s visa and are cashless. These individuals are eligible to eat for free at the restaurant. The restaurant has no terms and conditions for such people and the staff at the restaurant also have a code word for such people so that they can directly place an order for them. This way, the restaurant ensures that it doesn’t hurt their self-respect and nobody else in the restaurant also comes to know about them. People visit the restaurant and enjoy a hearty meal for over a month and the restaurant welcomes them with all heart. There is no restriction on the number of visits.
Well, this is one of the many restaurants in the region offering free meals to the needy. Traditional Egyptian restaurant Fatta Kawareh in Abu Hail has been offering a free meals to the poor. In addition, Yummy Dosa had also announced free meals to blood donors last year on the eve of World Blood Donor Day to show appreciation for the donors’ selfless act of helping others.
