UAE Residents Can Travel to Armenia Visa-Free from July 1

The new visa-free policy allows UAE residents to visit Armenia for tourism, leisure, or business without paperwork hassles

Starting from July 1, 2025, residents of the UAE can travel to Armenia without a visa, opening up an easy and cost-effective opportunity for tourism, leisure, and business. The new travel policy allows stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, significantly easing access for thousands of expatriates across the UAE and wider GCC region.

The change is part of Armenia’s broader initiative to improve travel accessibility for foreigners with valid residency permits, and comes just in time for the summer travel season.

Armenia Expands Visa-Free Access for GCC Residents

Previously, only UAE passport holders could travel to Armenia visa-free, while residents were eligible for a visa on arrival. The updated policy now allows all UAE residents with valid residency permits—regardless of nationality—to enter Armenia visa-free.

To be eligible, travellers must hold a UAE residence visa valid for at least six months from the date of entry. The same rule applies to residents of other Gulf Cooperation Council countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar.

This expansion reflects Armenia’s focus on strengthening its tourism and business ties with the GCC, offering a seamless travel experience to a wider audience.

Wider Reach for Residency Permit Holders

The visa-free policy is not limited to GCC countries. Travellers holding residency permits from the European Union, Schengen Area, or the United States, valid for six months or more, are also eligible.

This move positions Armenia as a welcoming destination for a global audience, particularly residents in regions with growing outbound tourism like the UAE. The decision was made at a recent Armenian cabinet meeting aimed at facilitating travel and encouraging economic cooperation with key international partners.

Armenia: An Appealing Destination to UAE Travellers

Armenia has long been a favourite for UAE residents seeking a scenic yet affordable holiday destination. Located just a three-hour flight from Dubai, it offers the charm of a European-style escape without long-haul travel or complicated entry procedures.

Direct flights operated by budget airlines from Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi make it a convenient getaway. With scenic mountains, rich history, and pleasant summer weather, Armenia promises an unforgettable trip.

Top Attractions in Armenia

Travellers from the UAE can look forward to exploring:

  • UNESCO-listed monasteries and historic churches
  • Lively cultural festivals throughout the year
  • A diverse and growing culinary scene
  • Nature escapes including hiking trails and lakes

The country is especially appealing to those interested in heritage travel and outdoor exploration, with destinations like Lake Sevan, Dilijan National Park, and the ancient Geghard Monastery topping the list.

Travel Requirements for UAE Residents

To enter Armenia visa-free, UAE residents must ensure:

  • Their UAE residency permit is valid for a minimum of six months
  • Travel is for tourism, leisure, or business purposes
  • Their stay does not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period
  • Their passport and documents are up to date and valid at the time of entry

No prior application or visa processing is needed, making it a seamless experience for eligible travellers.

Boost to Regional Tourism and Business

This initiative is expected to boost bilateral relations between Armenia and the UAE. The relaxed entry rules support increased people-to-people engagement, promote cultural understanding, and create opportunities for business investment and tourism development.

Armenia seeks to become a regional hub for accessible travel, catering to the Gulf’s growing expatriate community.

A Timely Change for Summer Travel

With summer holidays nearing, this update makes travel easier for UAE residents. Armenia is now a convenient choice for both short getaways and extended cultural trips.
