Music Icon Vipin Reshammiya, Himesh Reshammiya’s Father, Passes Away at 87

Bollywood has lost another gem. Veteran music composer Vipin Reshammiya, father of the ever-iconic Himesh Reshammiya, has sadly left us at the age of 87. The legendary composer had been battling breathing issues and was hospitalized in Mumbai before his passing. His final journey was in Juhu, where the family paid their respects as they bring him home one last time.

Confirming the heartbreaking news, family friend Vanita Thapar, shared with ETimes, “Yes, he had breathing problems and was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital. He passed away at 8:30 pm today.” Vanita recalled her deep connection with Vipin, having known him since his days creating TV serials, long before Himesh made waves in the music industry. It seems music runs deep in the Reshammiya genes.

Himesh’s Heartfelt Tribute to His Dad

In a touching moment back in 2021, Himesh took to Indian Idol 12 and later Instagram to share an untold story about his father. He revealed that Vipin had once composed a song with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. But unfortunately never saw the light of day. In Himesh’s words, “My dad, composer Vipin Reshammiya, had created a beautiful track years ago sung by Lataji and Kishore Kumar ji. Sadly, it never got released.” Talk about a musical masterpiece we’ll never get to hear!

A Father’s Legacy Behind the Spotlight

For those who might not know, Vipin Reshammiya was not just a proud father but also a talented music composer. While he chose to stay out of the limelight and didn’t fully pursue a music career, he played a significant role in shaping Himesh’s future. Vipin was the mastermind producer behind films like The Xposé (2014) and Teraa Surroor (2016), starring his son, of course. But it was through his dad’s industry connections that Himesh scored his first big break as a music director for the 1998 hit Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai starring none other than Salman Khan and Kajol.

It’s a tough time for the Reshammiya family, but the legacy that Vipin leaves behind, both as a father and a music maestro, will live on forever. Rest in peace, Vipin Reshammiya, your music will echo in our hearts.
