UAE weather: Temperatures to reach 47°C as humid nights and early morning fog continue

The National Centre of Meteorology forecasts another hot and humid week across the UAE, with inland temperatures touching 47°C and fog expected in some areas during the early mornings.

What happened?
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast hot and partly cloudy weather across the UAE this week, with temperatures reaching up to 47°C, humid nights and the possibility of fog and mist in some areas.

Who is affected?
Residents, motorists, outdoor workers, tourists and anyone planning outdoor activities across the UAE.

Why does it matter?
Extreme daytime heat, high humidity and reduced visibility during early mornings could affect daily commutes, outdoor work and summer travel plans.

UAE weather this week: Temperatures to reach 47°C as humid nights continue

The UAE is set for another week of intense summer weather, with temperatures expected to climb to 47°C in inland areas while humidity levels rise overnight, creating favourable conditions for fog and mist across parts of the country.

According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the country will continue to experience fair to partly cloudy skies, with humid conditions during the night and early morning over some coastal and inland areas. The weather pattern is expected to remain largely stable through the week, although eastern regions could see convective cloud development during the afternoons.

The forecast comes as the UAE enters one of its hottest periods of the year, with authorities continuing to remind residents to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and to stay updated with official weather advisories.

Inland areas to record the highest temperatures

The NCM expects inland parts of the UAE to experience the most intense heat, with daytime temperatures ranging between 42°C and 47°C.

Across the country, temperatures are forecast to remain within the following ranges:

  • Coastal and island areas: 38°C to 42°C
  • Inland areas: 42°C to 47°C
  • Mountain regions: 32°C to 37°C

Meanwhile, humidity levels are expected to increase significantly after sunset, reaching up to 85% in some coastal areas overnight.

Although these temperatures are typical for July, the added humidity often makes conditions feel even hotter, particularly along the coast where nights remain warm and sticky.

Humid nights could bring fog and mist during early mornings

One of the week’s key weather features will be the return of overnight humidity, increasing the likelihood of fog or mist before sunrise in some coastal and inland areas.

The NCM says these conditions are expected mainly between late night and early morning on several days this week.

Motorists travelling during these hours are encouraged to remain cautious, as reduced visibility can affect driving conditions on major highways.

Drivers should remember to:

  • Slow down if visibility drops.
  • Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
  • Follow variable speed limits displayed on electronic road signs.
  • Use fog lights only when necessary.

Early morning fog is a common feature of UAE summers, especially when warm daytime temperatures combine with high overnight humidity.

Eastern regions may see afternoon cloud build-up

While sunshine will dominate much of the country, weather conditions are expected to become slightly more active over eastern and mountainous areas during the afternoons.

The NCM forecasts the formation of convective clouds, which develop as strong surface heating causes warm air to rise over higher terrain.

Although widespread rainfall is not expected, these clouds can occasionally bring:

  • Brief cloudy spells
  • Fresh winds
  • Localized dust in exposed areas

Residents travelling towards Hatta, Fujairah or other eastern regions may notice changing weather conditions later in the day, although the overall forecast remains dry.

Fresh winds and calm seas are expected across most of the week

Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds will continue during the first half of the week before gradually shifting to southeasterly and northeasterly directions.

According to the NCM, winds may freshen at times, reaching speeds of around 40km/h, particularly over eastern areas.

Marine conditions are expected to remain generally favourable:

  • Arabian Gulf: Slight seas.
  • Oman Sea: Slight to moderate, becoming rough at times later in the week.

The forecast is particularly important for fishermen, recreational boat users and marine operators planning activities along the UAE coastline.

Extreme summer heat keeps safety in focus

The latest forecast also highlights why heat safety remains a priority across the UAE during the summer months.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s annual Midday Work Ban remains in force until 15 September, prohibiting outdoor work under direct sunlight between 12:30 pm and 3 pm to protect workers from heat stress. Employers are also required to provide shaded rest areas, drinking water and cooling facilities.

Health experts generally recommend that residents:

  • Stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.
  • Wear lightweight clothing and use sun protection.
  • Never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.
  • Check weather forecasts before early morning travel when fog is expected.

For tourists, the hot weather also means indoor attractions, shopping malls, museums and entertainment venues remain popular choices during the afternoon before residents and visitors head outdoors later in the evening when temperatures become slightly more comfortable.

FAQs

How hot will the UAE get this week?

According to the National Centre of Meteorology, inland temperatures could reach 47°C, while coastal areas are expected to record highs between 38°C and 42°C.

Will there be fog in the UAE?

Yes. Overnight humidity may lead to fog or mist in some coastal and inland areas during the early morning hours.

Is rain expected this week?

No widespread rainfall is forecast. However, convective clouds could develop over eastern mountainous regions during the afternoons.

Why does it feel hotter than the actual temperature?

High humidity limits the body’s ability to cool itself through sweating, making the weather feel warmer than the recorded air temperature.

What time should people avoid working outdoors?

The UAE’s Midday Work Ban prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12:30 pm to 3 pm until 15 September.

The UAE is expected to experience another classic summer week, with temperatures reaching 47°C, humid nights, early morning fog in some areas and partly cloudy skies across much of the country. While the overall weather pattern remains stable, residents are advised to stay hydrated, follow official weather updates and take extra care during periods of extreme heat and reduced visibility.
