In a significant move to support students and families during Ramadan, UAE public schools will shift to remote learning every Friday throughout the holy month. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education under the “Ramadan with the Family” program, aims to encourage a balance between education and family time.
This decision allows students to study from home while engaging in Ramadan traditions with their loved ones. However, students with pre-scheduled exams on Fridays will be required to attend in person. Schools will also provide parents with activity guides to enhance learning and family bonding.

Dubai Introduces Flexible Working Hours for Ramadan

Alongside school adjustments, Dubai has introduced flexible work policies for public sector employees during Ramadan 2025. Government workers will have the option to adjust their working hours and work remotely for up to two days per week, depending on their job requirements.
The new work schedule ensures a minimum of 5.5 working hours from Monday to Thursday and three hours on Fridays. This initiative supports employees in maintaining a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and spiritual commitments.
Reduced Working Hours for the Private Sector
The UAE government has also announced a reduction in working hours for private-sector employees. Businesses encourage offering flexible schedules, allowing employees to manage work commitments while observing the holy month.
Many private companies expect to implement similar policies to maintain productivity while ensuring employees can fully participate in Ramadan traditions.
Supporting Community and Cultural Values
These initiatives reflect the UAE’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment during Ramadan. By prioritizing family time and cultural traditions, the country continues to strengthen its commitment to work-life balance and community well-being.
As Ramadan approaches, both students and employees will benefit from these changes, creating a more accommodating and spiritually enriching atmosphere for all.
