UAE Opens One of the World’s Largest Ultra-Fast EV Charging Hubs

ADNOC’s new mega hub on E11 is set to change how electric vehicle owners travel between the UAE’s two biggest cities

The UAE has officially opened one of the world’s largest ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hubs, marking another clear move towards cleaner and smarter transport across the country.

Launched by ADNOC Distribution, the new EV mega hub is located at Saih Shuaib on the E11 highway, the main road connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi. For anyone who regularly drives this stretch, the location alone says a lot. This is about making electric travel easier where it matters most.

The opening comes just days before Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, when global leaders arrive in the capital to talk about energy, climate, and the future of mobility. This time, the UAE is not just talking. It is showing what progress looks like on the ground.

A charging hub built for real highway travel

This is not a small roadside setup. The EV mega hub features 60 ultra-fast charging points, making it one of the largest of its kind anywhere in the world.

Most electric vehicles can charge from zero to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes. That is roughly the time it takes to grab a karak, check your phone, or step into an air-conditioned space before heading back on the road.

The hub is now the largest superfast EV charging site across the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, and the sixth largest globally. For UAE drivers, the scale matters. It means fewer queues, faster stops, and less stress during long drives.

For many Dubai residents who commute to Abu Dhabi for work or business, this could quickly become a familiar stop.

Why the E11 location makes sense?

Anyone who drives in Dubai knows how important Sheikh Zayed Road and the E11 corridor are. It is one of the busiest highways in the country, linking offices, industrial zones, airports, and residential communities.

Placing a mega EV hub here is a practical move. It supports inter-city commuters, fleet drivers, and families travelling between emirates, especially on weekends and holidays.

It also sends a strong message. Electric vehicles are no longer limited to city driving or short trips. The infrastructure is now being built for long-distance use.

Part of a bigger EV plan for the UAE

The new hub is only the start. ADNOC Distribution has outlined a clear roadmap to electrify the UAE’s highway network by the end of 2027.

The plan includes 20 EV charging hubs across national highways. Fifteen of these are expected to open by the end of 2026. Once complete, drivers will be able to travel across the country with consistent access to high-speed charging.

This network supports the UAE’s long-term electric vehicle goals and eases concerns around charging availability. It also supports businesses and logistics operators looking to move towards electric fleets.

Supporting national sustainability targets

The UAE has set an ambitious target. By 2050, 50 per cent of all vehicles on the country’s roads are expected to be electric.

Expanding fast and reliable charging infrastructure is essential to reaching that goal. Officials have highlighted that hubs like this one help cut transport-related energy consumption and support the country’s wider sustainability agenda.

By placing charging infrastructure along major highways, the UAE is encouraging more drivers to consider electric vehicles as a realistic, everyday option.

More than just charging cables

What makes this EV mega hub different is that it is not only about plugging in a car.

This location also marks the first highway-focused site under “The Hub by ADNOC” concept. These hubs are designed to be larger, more comfortable, and more useful than traditional service stations.

The site is three times bigger than a regular ADNOC station. Alongside fuel and EV charging, it offers food options and lifestyle facilities. Most notably, it includes a coworking space, aimed at people travelling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi who want to work while their car charges.

In a city like Dubai, where time matters and work often happens on the move, this small detail makes a big difference.

ADNOC’s growing EV charging network

ADNOC Distribution already operates one of the largest EV charging networks in the UAE through its E2GO platform.

At present, there are more than 400 charging points installed across the country. The company plans to increase this to up to 750 charging points by 2028.

With over 560 service station locations nationwide, ADNOC is well placed to expand quickly and efficiently. This also opens the door for future upgrades as EV technology continues to evolve.

how it matters for Dubai drivers?

For Dubai residents, especially those who drive electric or are considering it, the impact is very real.

Shorter charging times mean easier planning. Highway charging reduces range anxiety. Comfortable facilities make stops less of a hassle.

As more electric vehicles appear on Dubai roads, infrastructure like this helps make the transition feel natural, not forced.

It also reflects how the UAE approaches change. Big ideas, executed at scale, with a focus on convenience.

A clear signal of what’s next

The opening of this ultra-fast EV charging hub shows that electric mobility in the UAE is moving fast.

This is no longer about future plans or pilot projects. It is about building systems that work today and can grow tomorrow.

For drivers on the Dubai–Abu Dhabi route, the future of travel just became a lot more electric.
