Dubai is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure by reserving prime parking spaces for EV charging stations. This initiative is a result of a strategic collaboration between Parkin, Dubai’s largest paid parking service provider, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The project aims to promote green mobility and make EV charging more accessible across the city.
Strategic Locations for Charging Stations
In the first quarter of 2025, we will install new EV charging stations in high-density residential areas, specifically in zones A and C, where access to charging facilities is currently limited.
By placing the chargers in areas with high vehicle movement, Dubai is ensuring that residents and visitors have more convenient options to charge their electric vehicles without having to travel far.
Efficient and Seamless Charging Experience
The newly installed EV charging stations will operate using alternating current (AC) with a capacity of 22 kilowatts per charging point. Each station will feature two charging points, allowing multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously.
To simplify the user experience, Parkin and DEWA have integrated a seamless payment system.
Dubai’s Commitment to Green Mobility

Dubai’s leadership supports eco-friendly transportation, in line with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and UAE’s Net Zero 2050 initiative. Expanding EV charging stations will boost electric vehicle adoption in the Emirates. EV owners can pay both the parking fee and charging tariff through the Parkin app for a hassle-free transaction.
Expanding Dubai’s EV Charging Network
DEWA currently operates around 740 charging points across Dubai, with plans to expand to 1,000 by the end of 2025. Launched in 2014, the EV Green Charger initiative ensures easy access to charging stations citywide.
Encouraging Residents to Switch to Electric Vehicles
Dubai is adding EV charging stations to premium parking areas, making it easier for residents and businesses to switch to electric vehicles. This initiative aims to encourage eco-friendly car usage, reducing carbon emissions and supporting a cleaner environment.
A Step Towards a Smarter and Greener Dubai
This initiative is a major step in making Dubai a global leader in smart and sustainable transportation. The city is providing cutting-edge EV infrastructure in key locations, ensuring efficient and reliable charging solutions for residents and visitors.
