Dense Fog Envelops UAE: NCM Issues Safety Warnings for Motorists

Motorists across the UAE experienced challenging driving conditions this morning as dense fog covered several areas, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, and Sharjah. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued red and yellow alerts, warning of poor visibility that lasted until 9 a.m. today.

Drive Safely During Dense Fog

Authorities have implemented safety measures to protect motorists. Abu Dhabi Police reduced speed limits to 80 km/h on key roads, emphasizing adherence to the safety of all road users. Regions like Madinat Zayed, Sweihan, and other parts of Abu Dhabi were most affected by the fog.

The NCM advised drivers to avoid sudden lane changes, keep their headlights on low beam, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

UAE Weather: Cooler Temperatures Across the UAE

The lowest temperature recorded today was 4.9°C in Raknah, Al Ain. Daytime highs will range between 27°C and 31°C, while evenings are expected to cool down to 10°C–15°C. Coastal regions will see temperatures between 26°C and 30°C, while mountainous areas will remain cooler, with highs of 18°C–22°C.

Dust and Humidity Warnings

Light to moderate winds are causing blowing dust and sand, which may impact residents with allergies or respiratory issues. Additionally, humidity levels are expected to rise at night, especially in coastal and internal areas, increasing the likelihood of fog tomorrow morning.

Tips for Foggy Weather

  • Follow Speed Limits: Drive within the prescribed limits to ensure safety.
  • Use Proper Lighting: Avoid high beams; use fog lights and low beams instead.
  • Stay Informed: Monitor weather updates from trusted sources.
  • Maintain Distance: Ensure ample space between your vehicle and others.
