In one such episode, a black bag containing diamonds worth AED 1 million; and AED 3.6 million in cash was left behind by a passenger in Dubai’s public transport. Well, but Dubai is Dubai- isn’t it? Over 101 honest drivers in the Emirate helped return these items to their owners from January 2022 to March 2023.
The RTA has now honoured these heroes for their honesty and dedication. Besides, the bag also contained other valuables like a plastic bag containing gold worth AED200,000; an expensive handbag and a watch valued at $50,000; AED183,000 in cash; a black bag with AED200,000, and an expensive watch worth of $60,000.

The owners of items left behind in cabs are contacted directly or with assistance from the Dubai Police, Dubai Airports, and other organizations. Once the forgotten item is found, it is couriered to the tourist who reported the loss of the item.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, Executive Director of the Public Transport Agency at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, said: “Reports of finding finds by drivers in general reflect the honesty and integrity of the drivers, and their responsibility, and they do not only represent themselves, but are considered the mirror and facade of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai.”
He added, “The RTA is keen to honor honest drivers periodically, in order to motivate them to be honest and feel appreciated for their good morals, and their good behavior towards other people’s money and property, as they are an honorable image of themselves and their job, which will reflect positively on their performance and then enhance the level of the taxi sector in the emirate.” And the extent of Dubai’s commitment, in general, to its guests and residents, as the happiest city in the world.
The Executive Director of the Public Transport Agency stated that all the reactions by public transport users in Dubai were expressing their great happiness in recovering their lost items very quickly, offering expressions of praise, thanks and praising the good behavior of the transport drivers, and this indicates their good morals and presentation of an image. Dubai Metro registers more than 2 billion passengers since its inauguration
Recently, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, proudly tweeted Dubai Metro’s new milestone. In his tweet he said that the number of passengers on the Dubai Metro has reached 2 billion since its inauguration on 9-9-2009.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: “The idea of ??the Dubai Metro is novel in the region. Although there were some conflicting opinions, we went ahead with a bold decision and we delivered what we promised.
HH further added that Dubai Metro has 129 trains, 53 stations, and an impeccable punctuality of 99.7%. The metro’s Red Line transported 1.342 billion commuters while the Green Line served 673.531 million commuters. The Dubai Metro’s continued growth and success serve as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to providing safe and reliable transportation to commuters.
