After leaving us awestruck with Madgaon Express and Dhoom Dhaam, Pratik Gandhi is back to steal the spotlight. Meanwhile, Patralekhaa, fresh off her gripping performance in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, steps into yet another powerful role. The duo is poised to bring to life the incredible and long-overdue story of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule in “Phule.” It’s a biographical drama that’s all about breaking shackles and rewriting destinies. And guess what? The trailer is finally out, and it is giving goosebumps galore!
A Revolution On Screen: What The Trailer of ‘Phule’ Offers
History books may not have done justice to the Phules, but this film sure seems to! The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan. Phule delves into the relentless battle fought by Jyotirao and Savitribai against a deeply patriarchal and caste-oppressed society. The trailer hits hard as it captures their fight for women’s education, the rights of widows, and the dignity of the marginalized. It shows just how much they went against the tide when standing up for justice.
Packed with powerful dialogues, stirring visuals, and moments that make you want to cheer and cry, the trailer promises a film that not only narrates history but also breathes life into it.
Pratik Gandhi & Patralekhaa open up about their roles
For Pratik Gandhi, stepping into the shoes of Mahatma Phule wasn’t just another role – it was an experience. Speaking about his journey, he said, “I am fortunate that I got to live the life of the legendary Mahatma, on screen. I could feel the immense struggle and opposition that he endured as he along with his wife, dismantled an age-old societal system designed to oppress those at the lowest rungs of the social hierarchy.”
Meanwhile, Patralekhaa couldn’t be prouder to portray the trailblazing Savitribai Phule. “Alongside Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai laid the very foundation for modern education and social equality in India. She brought in a significant change for the girl child in our country but her story is not told enough. I am glad Anant sir decided to make a film on their life and I got to play her,” she shared.
Ananth Mahadevan is making sure this isn’t just another period drama – it’s a statement. “These stories that are lost somewhere in history, need to be told to the young generation. Imagine two people decided to change the world for better, in spite of the immense opposition that they had to face. Their story is truly inspiring,” he said.
Produced by Dancing Shiva Films and Kingsmen Productions, Phule is set to hit theatres on April 11, 2025 – coinciding with the birth anniversary of Jyotirao Phule. With Zee Studios backing its release, this one’s shaping up to be a must-watch cinematic experience.
