MOREISH – a family run concept that is challenging stereotypical vegan and vegetarian menus in the UAE

Moreish is home to a family-run concept that is comfortably nestled in one of Dubai’s popular food hubs, Mankhool, they aim to redefine the purpose of food and the dynamics of running a business. Conceptualized by Bhavika Bhatia and her mother, Vanita Bhatia, Moreish boasts an eclectically innovative, home-style cooked menu adorned with ‘food that loves you back’, all while challenging stereotypical vegan and vegetarian menus in the UAE.

Starting out as a little al-fresco styled café in Oud Metha in May 2018, the Bhatia family seized the opportunity to fulfil a dream of cooking, feeding and serenading beyond the four walls of their beloved home, introducing a global eatery that celebrates food, family, and community. Fast forward to September 2021, they expanded and relocated to their present location in Mankhool, a space three times in size, and as a reflection of everything a home could be – including a library!

From waffles and pancakes to gourmet burgers, to stews, steaks and comfort favourites, Moreish’s flavourful and distinctive menu is the tried-tested-and-loved culinary journey of Creative Head, Bhavika Bhatia’s thought process. The menu prides itself on using quality ingredients and produce in each dish.

Our policy is that if an ingredient is not something we would use in our own home, we would not be using it in the Moreish kitchen either

Moreish is also home to egg-free, gelatin-free, and vegan desserts such as the Lavender & Rosemary cake, the Dark Chocolate Silk Pot, and the English Berry Trifle, to name a few. Fostering a charming and cozy ambience with blue checkered tablecloths, brick accents and a standout blue wall decorated by photos of chefs that have inspired the family, Moreish seats 60 covers indoors and 25 covers outdoors, promoting an intimate dining experience, just as you would enjoy at home.

Family-run in the most literal sense, the Bhatia family are actively involved in the day-to-day running of Moreish, whether it is curating and testing dishes or serving tables and stirring up conversations with the aim to connect over a love for food. Encouraging connections and building bonds over delicious meals, Moreish also serves as a hub for community-focused events. “This aims to bring back the warmth and inclusivity that social dining has now seen a decline in, and to remind people that they are not alone in this city that never seems to slow down,” adds Bhavika. “We highly value the importance and privilege of being part of a community so that we can give back. We do our best to initiate and execute creative ways to make people feel like they are part of something much bigger than just diners at a restaurant.”

We came across Moreish when we were invited for a Master Class by Lokesh from CITY 1016 and we were glad to have discovered this place – here’s how the masterclass from Lokesh went about
