Bollywood’s newest Gen-Z star, Khushi Kapoor, is all set to make her grand Bollywood debut. The stakes are sky-high when her mother is the legendary Sridevi, and her sister, Janhvi Kapoor, is already ruling the industry. Being a star kid comes with its perks, but the pressure? Unreal! And now, Khushi is opening up about the never-ending comparisons, name-calling, and brutal beauty standards she’s had to deal with.
Khushi Kapoor REACTS on getting compared with mother Sridevi Ji and sister Janhvi Kapoor
Growing up in the shadow of Bollywood royalty isn’t all glitz and glam, and Khushi knows it all too well. In a recent interview, she got candid about how people have been dissecting her looks since she was a child. She shared, “It’s a vicious cycle. When I was younger, people made fun of how I looked because I didn’t resemble my mom or sister. Your self-esteem takes a hit, especially as a kid.”
She added, “I took a keen interest in vanity and to look a certain way and I don’t think that it is a bad thing, especially when I know these are the things people are pointing out. I am not saying that it is something that people should or shouldn’t do.”
But let’s get one thing straight, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good!
Beauty, Fillers & The Trolling That Never Ends!
From childhood bullying to online trolls, Khushi has heard it all. And no matter what she does, people always have something to say. She shared, “I haven’t done the hundred things that people have said that I have done but it is a part of taking care of yourself sometimes. Skincare, fillers, I don’t think these are the things a person should be scrutinised for.”
Addressing the elephant in the room (aka cosmetic procedures), Khushi doesn’t shy away from the truth. She’s already spoken about getting a nose job and fillers, and she refuses to be shamed for it. She continued,“It is important to be honest. Whether you do something or you don’t people are going to have an issue with it. I was judged when I looked a certain way when I was young. And I was called certain names and when I changed how I look, people had an issue with it too. You should do what is right.”
Khushi Kapoor’s Big Bollywood Break!
Trolls can keep talking, but Khushi is here to stay! She’s all set to make her big-screen debut with Loveyapa alongside Junaid Khan, hitting theatres on February 7. Up next, she’ll be seen opposite Ibrahim Ali Khan in Nadaaniyan, directed by Shauna Gautam and slated for a Netflix release later this year.
