IIT Delhi Opens Its First International Campus in Abu Dhabi, Boosting India-UAE Educational Ties

IIT Delhi Expands Globally with New Campus in Abu Dhabi

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has launched its first international campus in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in India-UAE educational relations. This move not only extends the prestigious IIT Delhi’s footprint beyond India but also strengthens the bond between the two nations through education.

A Historic Opening Ceremony

The Abu Dhabi campus was inaugurated with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. He welcomed the first batch of students pursuing degrees in Computer Science and Energy Engineering. These students were selected through exams like JEE Advanced and the new CAET for international applicants.

Key Partnerships and Collaborations

IIT Delhi’s Abu Dhabi campus isn’t just about education; it’s also about collaboration. The institute has signed key agreements with top UAE universities: Khalifa, Mohamed bin Zayed, Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, and Zayed University. These partnerships will enable joint research, faculty exchanges, and shared academic programs. Khalifa University will collaborate with IIT Delhi on research and labs, while Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi will join for research and exchanges.

Strengthening India-UAE Relations

The establishment of this campus is a part of a broader vision to strengthen India-UAE ties. Under Vision Document 2022 by Prime Minister Modi and President Al Nahyan, this initiative enhances education and tech cooperation. India’s Education Minister Pradhan views the IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi campus as a symbol of the India-UAE partnership and commitment to global progress.
