‘heeramandi’ songwriter AM Turaz calls out Actors for Taking Credit from Creators

Heeramandi has cast a spell on us all with its dazzling sets, captivating songs, and stellar cast. We’re already counting the days for season 2! But behind the glitz and glamour of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s cinematic extravaganzas lies a simmering issue: the unsung heroes of filmmaking.

AM Turaz, the lyrical genius behind Heeramandi’s enchanting music, isn’t holding back anymore. In a candid chat with Bollywood Now, Turaz opened up about his frustrations with actors overshadowing the crew’s hard work. He’s been Bhansali’s trusted collaborator for years, penning songs for masterpieces like Padmaavat and Gangubai Kathiawadi. But now, he’s speaking out.

Turaz’s Candid Confession on the songs of Heeramandi

Turaz dropped some truth bombs, saying, “If actors let the creators of the songs speak… The creators are not getting the appreciation that they deserve,” He’s seen it all—the actors soaking up the applause and financial rewards while the real creators get sidelined. This lack of recognition, he argues, stifles creativity and hampers future projects.

The Real Talk on Recognition

In his unfiltered interview, Turaz emphasized, “The creators are not given enough (credit and money), it affects their creativity and their next project suffers.” He’s urging actors to give credit where it’s due, questioning why they collaborate with directors and writers if they can’t acknowledge their contributions. “You write it yourself, who is telling you not to? You should credit them because not naming them is like snatching their credit away” he challenged. “Not naming the real creators is like snatching their well-deserved recognition.”

Currently streaming on Netflix, Heeramandi boasts a star-studded lineup including Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

While Bhansali’s films are celebrated for their grandiosity and stellar performances, voices like AM Turaz remind us of the importance of acknowledging the collaborative effort behind these cinematic marvels. Until the industry starts giving proper credit to all contributors, fostering a truly creative and supportive environment for filmmaking will remain a distant dream.
