Dubai Commuters Get Free Wi-Fi at 43 Public Transport Stations

In a welcome move for commuters, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out free Wi-Fi in Dubai public transport, now live at 43 key locations across the city. The project, developed in partnership with telecom provider e&, marks a major milestone in Dubai’s smart mobility and digital transformation journey.

Internet Access at Bus and Marine Stations

Residents and visitors can now connect to high-speed internet at 21 public bus stations and 22 marine transport stations spread across the emirate. Whether waiting at the Marina Promenade Marine Station or boarding from Dubai Marina Mall Marine Station, passengers can now stay online with ease.

The service supports all devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops, offering users a smooth browsing experience while commuting. It’s another step forward in making Dubai’s public transport smarter, more comfortable, and digitally integrated.

Improving Everyday Commute

This free connectivity rollout isn’t just about convenience—it reflects a larger commitment from the RTA to make daily travel more efficient and enjoyable. From accessing real-time transport schedules to staying in touch with friends or catching up on work emails, commuters now have one more reason to choose public transport.

The move also aligns with Dubai’s vision of creating a more connected and accessible urban experience for all, including professionals, students, and tourists.

Part of a Bigger Smart City Strategy

The initiative forms part of the RTA’s broader objective to enhance the city’s transport infrastructure using smart technologies. According to RTA officials, the project supports the UAE’s long-term digital goals and aligns with the nation’s vision to offer world-class services that cater to every segment of society.

In a statement, the RTA confirmed that the Wi-Fi network will be monitored and improved continuously, ensuring high performance and reliability. Future upgrades will also look at expanding this feature to remaining public transport areas.

Metro Users Already Enjoy Free Connectivity

While this update is new for bus and marine commuters, those who frequently travel by Dubai Metro are already familiar with free internet services available on both the Red and Green lines, powered by another telecom provider. The expansion across other modes of transport brings all public mobility services under a unified, connected umbrella.

What’s Next?

By mid-summer, the RTA aims to offer Wi-Fi across every public bus and marine transport station in Dubai. This expansion ensures that no matter where residents travel within the city, connectivity remains uninterrupted.

The RTA, along with e&, will continue to review user feedback and evaluate technical performance to ensure the service remains reliable and relevant.

Public Transport Gets a Digital Boost

With the availability of free Wi-Fi in Dubai public transport, the RTA is not only enhancing the commuter experience but also driving forward the city’s ambition to become a global leader in smart mobility.

Whether you’re commuting to work, heading out for errands, or exploring the city’s waterways, you can now stay connected every step of the way.
