UAE is home to some of the world’s best airlines- Emirates and Etihad Airways offering the best of comfort, luxury and services to passengers. And while these airlines are known for their top-notch luxurious services, the country is also home to some of the best budget airlines in the world. Yep, you read that right! Airline Ratings has listed the world’s best low-cost airlines for 2023, and FlyDubai and Wizz Air have made it to the list. Dubai’s FlyDubai bagged the eighth spot in the top 25 list and was named the best budget airline in the Middle East. Read on for all the deets.

FlyDubai Comes 8th In The Top 25 List
Serving customers for the past 14 years, Dubai’s budget carrier, FlyDubai, joins Southwest, AirAsia, Jetstar and Ryanair to become one of the best budget carriers in the world. Whereas Wizz Air, the Hungarian airline which has a UAE base via Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, bagged the 25th spot in the list. However, Sharjah’s Air Arabia failed to make it to the top 25 list this year after placing in the top 20 last year.
Malaysia’s AirAsia bagged the first spot, followed by United States Allegiant, Australia’s Bonza, Philippines’ Cebu Pacific and UK’s easyJet. India’s Indigo also made it to the list in the 12th spot, whereas Singapore’s Scoot bagged the 18th spot.
Flights To Neom Will Operate Twice A Week From 16 March
Besides this, FlyDubai has also become the first UAE airline to connect Dubai to the futuristic smart city in north-western Saudi Arabia. The airline will operate flights to Neom Bay Airport twice a week from March 16, on Thursdays and Sundays. The flights will depart from terminal 3 in DXB, with a flying time of under three hours.
Apart from Flydubai, Saudi’s national airline is the only other airline which operates between Dubai and Neom. Saudia Airlines launched the first commercial flights from Neom Bay Airport to Dubai in June 2022. The weekly round-trip flight is operated via aircraft sporting special Neom-Saudia livery, in an effort to showcase the megacity to the world.

Due to open in 2025, Neom is a town in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk region that lies at the confluence of three continents. Neom Bay Airport, which was built to serve the multibillion-dollar gigaproject, is roughly four hours’ flight time away from 40% of the world’s destinations.
