Etihad Airways Issues Eid Al Fitr and Summer 2025 Travel Advisory

Etihad Airways warns of peak travel periods and shares essential tips to avoid airport delays ahead of Eid Al Fitr and summer 2025.

Etihad Airways is preparing for a surge in passenger numbers at Zayed International Airport as multiple peak travel periods approach. With Eid Al Fitr, summer holidays, and other key travel seasons coinciding, the airline has issued a travel advisory to help passengers plan and avoid delays.

Peak Travel Periods to Watch Out For

Travelers can expect increased airport congestion during the following key periods:

  • Eid Al Fitr: Late March 2025
  • Spring Break: March 20 – April 13
  • Hajj Season: May 2025
  • Eid Al Adha: Early June 2025
  • Summer Holidays: June 28 – August 24

With millions of travelers expected to pass through Abu Dhabi’s main airport, passengers are urged to plan their trips carefully to avoid unnecessary stress.

Travel Tips for a Hassle-Free Journey

To ensure a smoother airport experience, Etihad Airways recommends the following:

Arrive Early at the Airport

Passengers should arrive at Zayed International Airport at least four hours before departure to allow time for security checks, immigration, and boarding procedures.

Use Online Check-In and Mobile Services

Etihad encourages passengers to check in online 48 hours before departure via the website or mobile app. This helps reduce wait times and ensures a faster check-in process at the airport.

Off-Site Check-In and Baggage Drop

To make travel more convenient, Etihad offers check-in and baggage drop-off services at various locations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, including:

  • Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal – 24/7 availability
  • Yas Mall – The Fountains – 10 AM to 10 PM
  • Mussafah Center – 10 AM to 10 PM
  • Al Ain (Lulu Hypermarket Kuwaitat) – 10 AM to 10 PM

Home Check-In Services

For those looking for added convenience, Etihad’s MORAFIQ home check-in service allows passengers to check in from home, receive boarding passes, and have their luggage collected, starting at AED 185.

Baggage Policies and Allowances

Understanding baggage rules helps prevent last-minute surprises:

  • Economy Class: 7kg carry-on baggage
  • Business & First Class: 12kg carry-on baggage
  • Checked Baggage: Varies by ticket type, with additional baggage purchase options available online

Cabin baggage dimensions must not exceed 50cm x 25cm x 40cm to meet airline policies.

Increased Airfare Prices During Eid and Summer

Due to high travel demand, flight prices are expected to rise by up to 50% as Eid Al Fitr coincides with spring break. Popular routes, such as Dubai to Singapore and Dubai to London, are already seeing higher fares. Booking flights early is recommended to secure the best prices.

U.S. Pre-Clearance for Travelers Flying to America

Passengers traveling to the United States should check in four hours before departure and arrive at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Pre-Clearance facility at least:

  • 90 minutes before departure for Business, First Class, and The Residence passengers
  • 2 hours before departure for all other travelers

The CBP facility closes one hour before departure, so punctuality is essential.

Expanded Flight Schedule for Summer 2025

To accommodate increased travel demand, Etihad Airways is adding more flights on key routes. From summer 2025, the airline will operate double-daily services to major European destinations such as Paris, Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, and Madrid. Additionally, flights to Bali will be upgraded to daily services, offering more flexibility to travelers.

Plan Ahead for a Smoother Travel Experience

With multiple peak travel seasons on the horizon, Etihad Airways advises passengers to plan ahead, use digital check-in options, and consider alternative baggage drop-off points. These steps can help ensure a hassle-free airport experience, allowing travelers to enjoy their journeys with ease.
