Emirates flight cancellations from Dubai to Dar es Salaam, travel alert for UAE-based passengers

If you’re booked on the DXB ? DAR route this week, here’s everything you need to know.

Travellers flying with Emirates between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dar es Salaam (DAR) should prepare for disruption this week. The airline has announced a temporary suspension of its direct route between Dubai and Tanzania’s largest city until at least Tuesday, 4 November.

If your itinerary involves DXB to DAR (or the reverse), you may not be accepted for travel at the point of origin. This alert applies regardless of whether you are departing from the UAE or connecting through DXB to Dar es Salaam.

Below is what UAE-based travellers should be aware of, and what steps to take if your journey is affected.

What’s changed on the route

Emirates operates a seven-times-weekly service between Dubai and Dar es Salaam. Scheduled flights — including EK 725 (DXB?DAR) and EK 726 (DAR?DXB) on dates from 31 October through 4 November — are now confirmed as cancelled.

Today’s notice states that any passenger attempting to check in for these flights, either from Dubai or via a connecting airport to Dar es Salaam, will not be accepted for travel until further notice. The airline emphasises that bookings to or from Dar es Salaam must be reviewed and re-booked accordingly.

Why the suspension happened

The decision stems from on-the-ground unrest in Dar es Salaam. Political tensions, safety concerns and regulatory disruption have prompted Emirates to temporarily pause operations on that route. In situations like this, airlines base decisions on risk assessment, airport accessibility and passenger security.

UAE travellers should do now

  • If you are booked from Dubai to Dar es Salaam, or through Dubai with final destination Dar es Salaam, contact your travel agent or Emirates directly to discuss re-booking or refund options.
  • Ensure your contact details (phone/email) are up-to-date with the airline so you receive updates.
  • Should your ticket be unaffected but involves Dar es Salaam in any way, check whether your itinerary remains valid or needs revision.
  • Explore alternative destination options if your schedule is tight — for example, flights to nearby cities or alternative transit hubs.
  • Review any travel insurance you hold. If the disruption stems from political unrest or force-majeure, coverage might vary.
  • Arrive at the airport well ahead of schedule if you plan to travel from Dubai, and verify flight status online rather than assuming all is unchanged.

Practical tips for the Dubai traveller

Given that Dubai is often the hub for onward travel into East Africa, this route disruption serves as a reminder to fly prepared:

  • Use the airline’s “Manage My Booking” portal to check status or request changes. In many cases, airlines waive re-booking fees when disruption is caused by factors outside the traveller’s control.
  • Keep all travel documents (boarding pass, booking reference) handy and monitor push-notification alerts from Emirates.
  • If you must travel and the Dar es Salaam leg is critical, consider arranging a backup plan (e.g., alternate route via another East African city or another carrier) so you’re not stranded at the last moment.
  • At DXB, use lounges or waiting areas wisely in case you face a delay or rerouting — time at Dubai can often be used for rest or working while you await the next steps.

Flight disruptions like these are always inconvenient, especially when they involve major hubs like Dubai and popular destinations such as Dar es Salaam. If you’re impacted by these cancellations, act now: contact your airline or agency, stay informed and adjust your plans. Flexibility pays.
