The committee will meet on Thursday, April 20 to sight the crescent Moon and only then the final dates for Eid Al Fitr will be announced.

Earlier, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced that the period from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3, 1444 will be a paid holiday for all federal government employees on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. And now, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that public sector employees will also get up to four days off for the Islamic festival.

“This comes in line with the UAE Cabinet’s decision to grant equal official public holidays to both, the public and private sectors,” MoHRE said.

Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan is expected to extend to 29 days this year. This means that the Eid holiday will start on Thursday, April 20 and most likely end on Sunday, Shawwal 3. This means UAE residents and citizens will enjoy holidays on April 20, 21, 22 and 23.

Saudi Arabia has also announced the Eid-al-Fitr holiday for employees in the private and non-profit sectors. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, on Monday, April 10th, took to Twitter to announce the holiday dates for employees in the private and non-profit sectors. Employees will enjoy four days off that will begin at the end of working hours on Thursday, April 20 and with the usual Friday-Saturday weekend, employees will resume work on Thursday, April 27.

Besides the private sector, Saudi Arabia has also announced a school holiday for Eid Al-Fitr 2023. For school kids, the holiday will begin on Thursday, April 13, and kids will resume on Wednesday, Shawwal 6, and April 26. What are you planning to do this Eid? Let us know in the comments below.
