Dubai’s terminal 3 will soon have a robot that will help you check-in

We all love travel, but not the protocol that comes with it- isn’t it? Booking tickets, checking in on time, handing over the luggage and then boarding the flight- if this feels like a mammoth task, then here’s good news for you. But what if we told you that soon you’ll have a robot at DXB that will do all the hard work for you. Dubai’s Emirates has announced the world’s first robotic check-in system at airports that they plan to introduce this year. How awesome is that? Scroll down for more.

Say hello to Sara, The World’s First Robotic Check-In System

Emirates will roll out a robotic check-in system at airports this year. Speaking to Khaleej Times, an Emirates spokesperson said that the system, called Sara, will speak at least six languages and will assist with everything from check-in to hotel bookings.

According to Adel Al Redha, COO of Emirates, no airport in the world currently has such a system, and they will be the first to implement it. The robot will finish the checking process, including boarding pass issuance, and will send it to the traveller’s registered mobile number or email address.

“The needs of travellers keep growing,” said Ade Redha. “However the airport is the same. We aim to serve our customers better with technology.”

Developed by Emirates in collaboration with their partners, the robotic check in system was completely locally produced. The airline plans to introduce 200 of these robots across the UAE over the next few years. Well, in all probability you might find Sara at DXB the next time you travel to Dubai. And, the robots are said to be a boon for transit passengers because it will also help during disruptions and flight changes. So, no more waiting in long customer care queues.

Besides, Emirates also plans to upgrade Sara to become AI-friendly, from being just a check-in system. We can’t wait to experience this futuristic travel!
