UAE aims to hit net zero emission goals by 2050, and to ensure that the country achieves the goals, testing for air taxis, driverless taxis, hybrid vehicles and drone deliveries has already begun in several parts of the country. And now, Dubai’s Arabia Taxi Transportation is already doing its bit by adding 269 new Tesla vehicles to its taxi fleet. Read on to know more.

Customers Can Ride In Tesla Model 3 Cars From May
Arabia Taxi has around fleet of 6,000 cars, and now customers can ride in Tesla Model 3 cars from May. The company in association with Tesla Motors in Dubai, has added these fancy electric cars to its fleet. This move is just one step for making 100 per cent taxis in Dubai environmentally-friendly by 2027 by increasing and introducing hybrid, electric, and hydrogen cars. In 2022, 11,300 taxis were functioning on the streets of Dubai- from that, 8,220 were eco-friendly. In fact, 83 per cent of Arabia Taxi’s fleet is already running on hybrid technology.
Speaking about the Tesla Cabs, this isn’t the first time that Teslas have been introduced in the public transport space in Dubai. In 2017, RTA launched 172 Tesla vehicles as part of its fancier limousine fleet and added 80 Tesla Model S, 50 Tesla Model X, and 42 Tesla Model 3. After introducing these taxis, RTA recorded positive indicators in terms of customer satisfaction and zero carbon emissions.

Besides, Dubai, UAE’s capital, Abu Dhabi, has announced Tesla Taxis as a part of its taxi fleet. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi has launched several Tesla electric vehicles to support the fleet of environmentally friendly taxis in the emirate. According to WAM, this new move is in place to establish an integrated, clean and sustainable transport environment and support the sustainable development goals in Abu Dhabi. However, as of now, the count of Tesla taxis hasn’t been revealed.
Speaking about the emirate’s vision, Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the ITC, said this initiative would enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and increase customer happiness. Furthermore, it will also make Abu Dhabi an environmentally friendly transport model. We can’t wait to see the Tesla cabs running on the streets soon.
