Dubai fashion week set to kick off for the first time this week

Fashionistas, listen up! The region’s first ever fashion show- the Dubai Fashion week is coming to town this March, marking a new chapter for the region’s fashion industry. The Dubai Design District will host Dubai Fashion Week, formerly known as Arab Fashion Week, from Friday, March 10 to Wednesday, March 15.

A special event at Dubai Design District (d3) hosted the announcement on February 7, 2023, in the presence of Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of TECOM Group, Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President – Commercial, TECOM Group, Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), and Jacob Abrian, CEO of the Arab Fashion Council, among other dignitaries.

Dubai Fashion Week will offer an international platform for up-and-coming and established designers to expand their brands, with presentations scheduled in accordance with the global fashion calendar. Regional designers will not only have the opportunity to network with and conduct business with international distributors and buyers, but the regional market will also act as a conduit for multinational companies and talent to continue broadening their global reach.

Khadija Al Bastaki, Senior Vice President of Dubai Design District (d3), part of TECOM Group, said: “Where there was Paris, Milan, London and New York, there is now Dubai. From economic activity to tourism and creativity, Dubai has carved its own space among the world’s cosmopolitan capitals, and fashion is one industry boosting its status. All eyes are on the Middle East for fashion and creativity, and now the sky is the limit. Dubai has the vision, ambition and innovation to elevate the impact and reach of creatives globally. Our evolving partnership with the Arab Fashion Council will strengthen our networks with international and regional partners and boost the industry’s contribution to the creative economy.”

Brands, designers, and other industry participants will be able to activate their own schedule of runway shows, presentations, exhibitions, pop-up stores, special celebrations, and workshops in d3 and throughout Dubai before Dubai Fashion Week thanks to the official calendar. Closer to the day, more information about the first edition will be made public.
