The expansion, which includes a staggering 14,000 tonnes of steel—equivalent to two Eiffel Towers—and a roof sheeting area of 78,000 square meters, will enable DEC to host 20 simultaneous events. Major industry events such as GITEX, Gulf Food, and Arab Health are already slated to move to this cutting-edge venue, designed to accommodate 50,000 daily visitors and expected to transform Dubai’s events sector with a state-of-the-art, eco-conscious design.
Creating a World-Class Event Destination
The Dubai Exhibition Centre expansion is more than a physical upgrade; it’s a step forward in Dubai’s journey to becoming a world-class destination for international events. DEC’s 120-meter column-free space offers versatile layouts for diverse events, from international exhibitions to industry trade shows. This eco-conscious venue supports sustainability and enhances Dubai’s economic and tourism appeal, meeting LEED certification standards.
Dubai’s plan integrates DEC with Dubai South and Al Maktoum Airport, enhancing its global events hub role.
Driving Economic Growth Through Events
Dubai’s commitment to its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector is reflected in DEC’s expansion. According to DWTC Executive Vice President Mahir Julfar, the project is set to generate AED 54 billion annually in economic output by 2033, tripling its current contribution. With the capacity to host 600 events yearly, DEC’s expanded facilities will increase Dubai’s ability to draw a larger international audience, reinforcing its global status as a thriving business and tourism destination.
The DEC expansion is also part of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which aims to foster growth across sectors. Traditional exhibitions and emerging sectors like real estate, technology, and F&B thrive in Dubai. New capacity lets Gulf Food and Arab Health expand, making Dubai a multi-industry growth hub.
Enhanced Visitor Experience and Infrastructure
DEC: 64,000 sqm permanent, 30,000 sqm temporary halls, parking for seamless experience. Phase one of the construction includes the installation of 515 foundational piles, ensuring structural resilience. DEC’s 180,000 square meters will make it the largest events venue in the Middle East.
Expo City Dubai’s expansion includes a marshaling yard for logistics, setting new efficiency standards and enhancing visitor engagement.
A Future-Ready Vision for Dubai
As Dubai continues to welcome international conferences, concerts, graduations, and government summits, the DEC expansion reflects the emirate’s forward-thinking approach. Expo City Dubai’s expanded centre boosts Dubai’s MICE sector, aiming to double events by 2033.
A Hub for Innovation, Sustainability, and Growth
Dubai’s ability to host simultaneous events and cater to various industry verticals showcases its adaptability and commitment to sustainable growth. The DEC’s enhanced facilities, advanced logistics, and eco-friendly design underscore the emirate’s dedication to building a future-ready, resilient economy. Expo City Dubai, boosting visitor capacity, showcases Dubai’s global connectivity and innovation.
