Dubai Design Week 2025 returns to d3 with a focus on community

The 11th edition of Dubai’s biggest creative festival celebrates connection, collaboration, and local talent this November.

Dubai Design Week is storming back this November, and from what we’re hearing, it’s shaping up to be its most electrifying edition ever. Set to take over Dubai Design District (d3) from November 4 to 9, 2025, the festival will celebrate creativity through the theme of Community.

Now in its 11th year, the event continues to grow as a key platform for designers, artists, and innovators from across the globe. With the UAE marking its official Year of Community, this edition aims to explore how design can bring people together, whether through shared spaces, collaborative projects, or the simple joy of creativity.

A festival built around people and connection

This year’s theme sets the tone for a festival that’s about much more than aesthetics. Expect to see design as a language that connects — from sustainable urban projects to immersive installations that invite participation. Dubai Design Week 2025 will host over 30 large-scale outdoor installations, showcasing work from architects, collectives, and creatives responding to the idea of community in modern cities.

Visitors can also look forward to a mix of design disciplines on display — including architecture, fashion, product design, art, and digital innovation — all centered around how creativity shapes shared experiences.

The big highlights to look out for

The Downtown Design Fair, a long-standing highlight of the festival, will return as the commercial heart of Dubai Design Week. Running from November 5 to 9, it will bring together contemporary design brands, local artisans, and emerging studios showcasing everything from furniture to lighting and interior design concepts.

Maker Space will once again open its doors for hands-on workshops, offering sessions for beginners, families, and seasoned makers. Whether it’s woodworking, 3D printing, or ceramics, the programme promises interactive activities for all skill levels.

The popular Editions Fair is also back, featuring limited-edition pieces from 50 local and international galleries and design studios. From collectible design to art-driven furniture, it’s a must-visit for design lovers and collectors.

A community marketplace will also pop up throughout the week, where visitors can shop homegrown brands and explore hand-crafted homeware, jewellery, and fashion. Alongside retail, expect live performances, food experiences, and family-friendly entertainment.

Exploring new ideas through the Urban Commission and Abwab

Each year, the Urban Commission invites designers and architects to propose solutions for public spaces in the city. This year’s theme, When Does a Threshold Become a Courtyard?, encourages participants to rethink traditional communal spaces. The winning concept could be brought to life within Dubai Design District — a real-world example of design serving the public.

Meanwhile, the Abwab initiative, which has become a key platform for emerging talent across the region, will return with the theme In the Details. The exhibition will showcase creativity from West, South, and East Asia, as well as Africa, spotlighting the diverse stories and craftsmanship that define these regions.

Expectations from the event

If you’ve been to D3 during Design Week before, you’ll know it’s one of the city’s most visually engaging events. The district’s open-air layout transforms into an art walk filled with installations, pop-ups, and photo-worthy exhibits. Most of the festival’s programming is free to attend, making it an accessible cultural experience for everyone.

Visitors can expect to spend a few hours wandering through the installations, grabbing a coffee at one of d3’s cafés, and dropping by workshops or talks scattered across the district. For design professionals, it’s also a valuable networking opportunity — a place to meet creatives and explore collaborations across fields.

The event runs daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, with peak crowds expected on the weekend. Comfortable footwear is recommended, as the festival covers several outdoor zones.

A creative celebration for all

What makes Dubai Design Week special is how it balances global creativity with local roots. It’s where world-renowned architects share space with emerging Emirati and regional designers. More importantly, it’s a reflection of Dubai’s growing identity as a global hub for design, art, and innovation — all while keeping people at the center of it.

Whether you’re a design enthusiast, a student, or just looking for something different to do in November, this is an event that captures Dubai’s vibrant cultural energy.

So, mark your calendars, head to Dubai Design District (d3), and experience the city’s most anticipated design celebration — where creativity meets community.
