DP World International League T20 (ILT20) is set to make a grand return for its fourth season, kicking off on UAE National Day, December 2, 2025, and running until January 4, 2026. The schedule shift aligns the tournament with festivities, giving cricketers more prep time for the T20 World Cup.
A Strategic Shift in Dates
The February 2026 T20 World Cup schedule led to the tournament’s December shift. According to David White, CEO of DP World ILT20, wrapping up the league ahead of the World Cup allows players adequate time for rest and preparation. “This new window not only gives our players enough time to gear up for international commitments but also opens up opportunities to welcome a broader range of talent to the league,” White commented.
The revised dates also coincide with UAE National Day celebrations, promising a thrilling start to the season. Cricket fans across the UAE will pack stadiums in record numbers, celebrating the nation’s spirit with high-octane matches.
Season 3’s Success Sets the Stage
Season 3 of the ILT20 was a spectacle in its own right, with Dubai Capitals clinching the trophy in a nail-biting final against Desert Vipers at the packed Dubai International Stadium. The tournament featured global cricket icons such as Nicholas Pooran, Sam Curran, Shai Hope, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, David Warner, and Adam Zampa. Dubai Capitals achieved a crowning success, triumphing and setting high expectations for the next edition.
Key players took home individual accolades, with Sam Curran winning the Red Belt, Shai Hope securing the Green Belt, and Fazalhaq Farooqi claiming the White Belt. These recognitions not only highlighted individual brilliance but also elevated the league’s competitive edge, drawing more global attention to the UAE’s premier T20 event.
What to Expect in Season 4
Cricket fans can anticipate an even grander spectacle for Season 4, with more international stars expected to join the league. The new December window aligns with a global break in international cricket, providing opportunities for marquee players to participate. This strategic window attracts more international talent, enriching the league’s competitiveness.
Matches will take place at top venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, maximizing fan engagement. After Season 3’s record attendance, organisers expect larger crowds and an electrifying cricket experience.
Enhanced Fan Experience
For Season 4, the ILT20 will enhance the fan experience with interactive zones, live entertainment, and exclusive events across the UAE. Organisers have hinted at upgraded facilities, immersive match-day experiences, and a stronger community-driven approach to celebrate UAE National Day in true cricketing spirit.
With the tournament set, fans can expect updates on teams, star signings, and the full schedule soon.
