Saif Ali Khan is gearing up to drop another bagn-on performance! Known for effortlessly pulling off roles ranging from chocolate-boy-next-door to intense, brooding characters, Saif is stepping into history this time. The stellar Pratik Gandhi and the ever-versatile Deepak Dobriyal are joining him on this epic Netflix project.
The trio is reportedly set to star in Rahul Dholakia’s ambitious Netflix film about India’s first general election. The one that kick-started democracy in a newly independent India back in 1951-52. Expect drama, chaos, and a sense of patriotism from Saif as Sukumar Sen, India’s first Chief Election Commissioner, steering the country through uncharted waters of democracy.
The film, produced by Nikkhil Advani under his Emmay Entertainment banner, promises to dive deep into the complexities of holding an election in a country where the democratic process was as alien as snow in the Sahara. From logistical nightmares to societal challenges, this one’s got all the makings of a gripping drama.
Saif Ali Khan as Sukumar Sen: A Role to Remember?
Saif takes on the role of Sukumar Sen, the unsung hero who ensured the elections ran smoothly. Think an Indian Civil Services officer navigating uncharted political territory alongside two Regional Election Commissioners and state officers. Talk about a boss-level responsibility!
For Saif, this marks his third collaboration with Netflix after the sensational Sacred Games and the upcoming action thriller Jewel Thief: The Red Sun Chapter. Meanwhile, this film will finally bring Saif and Rahul Dholakia together after their earlier project Agni got shelved due to scheduling issues.
When Can We Watch This?
Set to go on floors in April-May 2025, the project is currently in pre-production. While we wait, Rahul Dholakia’s firefighter drama Agni is dropping on Amazon Prime Video this December, and Saif has an investigative thriller Kartavya and the fourth installment of Race lined up.
