Dubai’s BurJuman Mall has launched a new ticketless paid parking system, joining other major shopping destinations in the city. Here’s everything visitors need to know about the changes, fees, and updated regulations.
How the New Parking System Works
BurJuman Mall, one of Dubai’s oldest and most iconic shopping centers, has transitioned to a ticketless paid parking system designed to simplify the parking experience. The new system employs Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, which captures vehicle license plate information upon entry and exit, eliminating the need for physical tickets.
The system operates with automatic barriers that lift as vehicles enter and exit, streamlining the process. Visitors must validate their parking sessions at designated payment machines before leaving, as no automated payment reminders exist. Exit payments allow only card transactions, with cash not accepted.
Parking Fees and Free Hours
Parking remains complimentary for the first three hours under the new system. After this period, each additional hour or part thereof incurs an hourly charge of AED 20. Free parking is also available on Sundays and public holidays.
Vox Cinemas patrons can enjoy an additional three hours of free parking. However, visitors must validate their tickets at the Vox counter before exiting the mall.
Re-Entry Restrictions and Time Limits
Shoppers should be aware that re-entry for free parking is permitted only six hours after their initial exit. This measure prevents misuse of the three-hour complimentary period.
Drivers must leave within 15 minutes after completing payment to avoid extra charges. The mall prohibits overnight parking, imposing a AED 350 daily penalty for violations.
Guidelines for Electric Vehicles and Reserved Parking
Electric vehicles (EVs) may use designated charging stations for up to one hour, following EV parking guidelines. Charging with regular mall electric sockets is strictly prohibited.
The mall clearly marks dedicated parking spaces for People of Determination and families, requiring drivers to respect these allocations. It prohibits private buses from parking in its facilities.
Fines and Penalties for Violations
To maintain order and ensure safety, BurJuman Mall has implemented specific fines for breaches of parking regulations:
- Overnight Parking: AED 350 per day
- Improper Parking or Facility Misuse: AED 250 per incident
- Speed Limit Violations (20 km/h limit): Subject to fines as per local regulations
- Blocking Reserved Spaces: Strict penalties are enforced
Mall management reserves the right to tow vehicles that violate these terms, with costs borne by the vehicle owner. Shoppers are reminded that all vehicles are parked at the owner’s risk, and the mall assumes no liability for damage or loss.
Streamlining Convenience and Security
BurJuman Mall’s ticketless system is part of a larger movement across Dubai to modernize parking facilities. The automated entry and exit process promises a smoother experience for visitors. The parking area features payment kiosks and clear signage to effectively guide shoppers.
BurJuman Mall’s shift to ticketless paid parking reflects Dubai’s push towards smart city innovations. Shoppers must learn the new system to avoid fines and enjoy a smooth visit.
