In a time when Bollywood’s box office game is wobbling more than a toddler on roller skates, trust Sanjay Dutt to call it as it is. While gearing up to unleash mayhem in KD – The Devil, Sanjay just served some spicy truth bombs about where Bollywood’s losing its masala, he’s pointing south, literally and figuratively.
Sanjay Dutt Opens Up About Bollywood Losing It’s Massy Sense
At the teaser launch of KD – The Devil, Sanjay Dutt didn’t hold back. Decked out in swag and wisdom, the Munna Bhai star declared that Bollywood has forgotten the secret sauce of crowd-pleasing cinema. According to him, South filmmakers still know how to make their fans whistle, cheer, and watch films on loop. Meanwhile, Hindi cinema is off chasing aesthetics, leaving behind its massy mojo.
Sanjay made it loud and clear: South Indian cinema is still serving that big-screen magic, with emotions, high-octane action, and whistle-worthy moments. “Yahan pe thoda Khalnayak-type vibe kho gaya hai,” he quipped, giving a nostalgic shoutout to OG entertainers like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.
In his words, “In the South, they still make massy (mass appeal) films, which maybe we’ve forgotten here. Something like Khalnayak — I mean, what Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) and Dharma ji (Dharmendra) used to do — that’s become a bit shaky here, but they haven’t forgotten it. The audience craves that massy vibe, and I absolutely love it.”
All Eyes On KD – The Devil
Now, let’s talk about the film that’s got Sanjay fired up: KD – The Devil. Set in the gritty, gangster-ruled underbelly of 1970s Bangalore, the movie promises bullets, betrayal, and some serious attitude. With Dhruva Sarja, Shilpa Shetty, and a stellar ensemble, this one’s aimed at your adrenaline, not your intellect, and that’s exactly the point.
Watch the teaser here:
KD – The Devil isn’t just playing local, it’s going Pan-India in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Directed by Prem and backed by KVN Productions, the film is set to bring back the kind of madness that makes movie halls feel like stadiums.
With KD – The Devil, Sanjay Dutt is not just playing a role; he’s delivering a message. It’s time for Bollywood to bring back the bold, the loud, and the larger-than-life. Until then, Dutt’s riding shotgun with the South, and honestly? We’re all aboard that train.
