Aramco Launches New Initiative to Protect Stray Animals in Saudi Arabia

Aramco's New Initiative to Improve Stray Animal Welfare in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco has introduced Olfa Animal Welfare, a new non-profit organization aimed at improving the lives of stray animals across Saudi Arabia. This initiative marks a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by stray animals in the Kingdom, aligning with community needs and Islamic principles.

Helping Stray Animals

Stray animals in Saudi Arabia often struggle with issues like lack of shelter and medical care. Olfa Animal Welfare is stepping in to make a difference by focusing on several key areas:

Shelter for Stray Animals: Creating safe places where stray animals can find food, shelter, and care.

Veterinary Services: Providing essential medical treatments, including vaccinations and health check-ups.

Controlling Animal Reproduction: Using sterilization to manage and reduce the number of stray animals.

Community Education: Raising awareness about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.

Olfa aims to make a real difference in the lives of these animals while fostering a culture of compassion.

Initial Projects and Collaborations

To kick off its efforts, Olfa Animal Welfare is partnering with the Eastern Region Municipality on several important projects:

Managing Animal Populations: Implementing strategies to control the number of stray animals effectively.

Improving Reporting Systems: Developing better ways to report and track stray animals.

Building Care Centers: Establishing facilities for animal care and rehabilitation.

Educating the Public: Launching programs to teach responsible pet care and animal welfare.

One of the first steps will be the rollout of mobile veterinary clinics in the Eastern Region. These clinics will offer services like medical exams, vaccinations, and sterilizations directly to stray animals in need.

Additionally, Olfa plans to open its first animal shelter in Dammam by 2025. This shelter will provide a central location for animal care and serve as a model for future shelters in Saudi Arabia.

A Commitment to Compassion

Nabeel A. Al Jama, Aramco’s Executive Vice President for Human Resources and Corporate Services, shared the company’s dedication to social responsibility. “With Olfa Animal Welfare, we’re excited to support community efforts in animal care across the Eastern Region and beyond. This initiative is about treating animals with kindness and respect, reflecting our values and Islamic teachings.”

Olfa Animal Welfare – Why it matters?

The launch of Olfa Animal Welfare represents a major shift towards better treatment of stray animals in Saudi Arabia. By addressing immediate needs and working on long-term solutions, Olfa aims to create lasting change. This effort not only helps animals but also promotes a more compassionate approach to animal care in the Kingdom.

Olfa’s work will likely inspire broader changes in how stray animals are treated, reflecting a growing commitment to social responsibility and ethical treatment of animals.
