UAE’s famous aquarium, the National Aquarium in Al Qana, Abu Dhabi, is hosting a special audio-visual exhibition curated by National Geographic from April 21st. The show is called Pristine Seas: Bringing the Ocean Back and will highlight the importance of marine protected areas for restoring the world’s oceans. Read on to know more about it.
Pristine Seas: Bringing the Ocean Back will use decades’ worth of information from global expeditions conducted by the National Geographic Pristine Seas project and document ways to protect the ocean, regenerate and clean it. The audio-visual show will take place from April 21st and highlight the importance of marine protected areas globally. Through this exhibition, visitors will learn a lot about marine life, and how the Pristine Seas team is supporting indigenous people, local communities and governments to protect the marine space.

Besides the exhibit, visitors will also get a chance to attend a series of lectures by Pristine Seas expedition leader Paul Rose on April 22 and April 23 at 2 pm. Paul Rose will shed a light on the work Pristine Seas is doing and the challenges the planet is facing. Speaking about this exhibition, Tony Luckett, National Geographic’s vice president of business development, said, “This exhibition is a testament to the Pristine Seas team’s unyielding commitment to safeguarding the blue heart of our planet.”
The goal of this exhibition is to immerse visitors in the beauty and other extraordinary experiences the marine world has to offer while reiterating why we must preserve it. Speaking about this one-of-its-kind exhibition, Paul Hamilton, general manager of The National Aquarium, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with National Geographic to bring the Pristine Seas Exhibition to the emirate as a part of our shared commitment to raising awareness about protecting our marine environment. The exhibition will not only allow our visitors to learn more about and explore our oceans but also to understand the threats to the survival of these habitats and wider climate change issues.”
