Sharjah Police Launch Family Awareness Campaign to Promote Safer Homes

Month-long initiative focuses on parents and children to build values, encourage safe tech use, and strengthen family roles across the UAE.

In line with the UAE’s “Year of the Family,” Sharjah Police has rolled out a new community initiative aimed at strengthening family values and creating safer home environments. Titled “Awareness Begins at Home,” the month-long campaign puts families at the centre of shaping responsible behaviour among children and young adults.

Launched in Sharjah, the initiative focuses on equipping parents with practical tools while guiding children towards better decision-making in everyday life—both offline and online.

The Role of Parents in Building Strong Values

At its core, the campaign highlights a simple but powerful idea: a child’s first lessons come from home. Before schools and society play their role, it is the family environment that shapes values, habits, and attitudes.

Officials from Sharjah Police stress that strong family foundations lead to stronger communities. The initiative is designed to:

  • Encourage positive behaviour among children
  • Support parents with modern parenting strategies
  • Build a culture of respect, responsibility, and awareness at home

This approach reflects a broader national focus on family well-being, aligning with ongoing UAE efforts to strengthen social stability.

Backed by Key UAE Entities

The campaign is not a standalone effort. It is being delivered in collaboration with several prominent organisations, including:

  • Ministry of Education
  • Sharjah Private Education Authority
  • Child Safety Department
  • Sharjah Social Services Council
  • Sharjah Children

This multi-agency collaboration ensures the campaign reaches families across different communities, schools, and social groups in the emirate.

Building Values Through Everyday Actions

According to Brigadier Faisal bin Nassar, Director General of the General Department of Community Protection and Prevention, values are not taught through theory alone. They are developed through daily habits and consistent behaviour at home.

He highlighted that children learn best by observing their surroundings. Simple actions like:

  • Respecting others
  • Following rules
  • Taking responsibility
  • Protecting public and private property

can leave a lasting impact when practiced consistently within the household.

The campaign also addresses an important and growing concern—the influence of peer groups and digital exposure. Parents are encouraged to guide children in choosing the right company and maintaining healthy boundaries, both socially and online.

Focus on Safe and Responsible Tech Use

One of the key pillars of the initiative is digital awareness. With children spending more time online, the campaign stresses the importance of responsible technology use.

Parents are being guided on how to:

  • Monitor screen time effectively
  • Encourage safe browsing habits
  • Educate children about online risks
  • Promote balanced digital and real-life interactions

This aligns with broader UAE conversations around digital safety, especially as technology becomes deeply integrated into daily life.

Digital Campaign Meets On-Ground Activities

To maximise its reach, Sharjah Police is taking a hybrid approach—combining online engagement with real-world interactions.

On digital platforms, the campaign will feature:

  • Short awareness videos
  • Visual content tailored for families
  • Easy-to-understand parenting tips
  • Child-friendly educational material

At the same time, on-ground efforts will include:

  • Community workshops
  • Educational lectures for parents and children
  • Interactive sessions in collaboration with partner entities

This dual approach ensures that the message reaches both tech-savvy audiences and those who benefit more from in-person engagement.

A Strong Message to Parents Across the UAE

Authorities are calling on parents to actively participate and make the most of the campaign resources. The message is clear—parenting today requires awareness, communication, and consistency.

Brigadier bin Nassar emphasised that raising children with strong values is not just a personal responsibility. It is a long-term investment in the nation’s future, contributing to safety, stability, and overall quality of life in the UAE.

The “Awareness Begins at Home” campaign is a timely reminder of the role families play in shaping the next generation. By focusing on practical parenting, digital safety, and value-building, Sharjah Police is addressing real challenges faced by modern households.

As the UAE continues to prioritise family well-being, initiatives like this highlight how small changes at home can create a lasting impact across society.
