New Exit Opens from Financial Centre Street to Ras Al Khor Road, Cutting Travel Times in Half

Strategically placed near Bu Kadra Interchange, the latest RTA road improvement brings significant relief to peak-hour traffic flow in central Dubai

Daily commutes in central Dubai are set to get quicker with a new exit opening from Financial Centre Street towards Ras Al Khor Road, close to the Bu Kadra Interchange. The newly constructed route, which becomes operational in early August, is designed to ease congestion and reduce journey times—especially during peak traffic hours.

According to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this targeted upgrade has already demonstrated a 54% improvement in travel time during trial runs, slashing it from 13 minutes to just 6 minutes in key periods of the day.

The move forms part of RTA’s wider programme to support Dubai’s expanding urban footprint with smarter, more efficient road infrastructure—providing direct benefit to residents, logistics operators, and city-wide connectivity.

Designed for Dubai’s Evolving Road Needs

Dubai’s growth as a major global city has placed significant demand on its transport systems. Financial Centre Street is a vital artery for traffic flowing from Downtown Dubai and Business Bay, while Ras Al Khor Road serves as a key route towards areas like Nad Al Hamar, International City, and the Dubai-Al Ain corridor.

The new exit offers a direct solution to the bottlenecks previously seen near the Bu Kadra Interchange, acting as a pressure-release point for vehicles heading eastwards. By creating a smoother link between these busy zones, RTA aims to not only improve vehicle flow but also contribute to safer and more consistent driving conditions.

Key Benefits for Drivers

  • Shorter Commutes: Travel time reduced by more than half during peak hours
  • Decongested Roads: Less pressure on central lanes and collector road exits
  • Efficient Connectivity: Links Financial Centre Street more directly to Dubai’s eastern transit network
  • Support for Commercial Mobility: Easier access for logistics and business travel routes

The exit’s location and design have been developed using RTA’s intelligent traffic planning systems, with attention to forecasted growth in daily road usage. It complements previous upgrades rolled out along Al Khail Road, Dubai-Al Ain Road, and intersections within the Business Bay corridor.

Smooth Integration, Minimal Disruption

Motorists using the collector road branching from Financial Centre Street will now have a faster exit route toward Ras Al Khor Road without merging into heavier traffic lanes. Planners designed the infrastructure to minimise disruption during implementation, and crews are finalising road markings and updating signboards before the official opening.

Drivers should check the new layout using Dubai Drive navigation or follow updated RTA signage in the area.

Supporting Long-Term Urban Development

As Dubai moves steadily toward its 2040 Urban Master Plan goals, road infrastructure plays a central role in sustaining the city’s liveability and business appeal. Projects like this one highlight how targeted, small-scale road improvements can deliver immediate impact without waiting for large network overhauls.

The new exit near Bu Kadra supports RTA’s strategy of easing traffic locally while advancing major transit upgrades like the Shindagha Corridor and Metro expansion.

By focusing on access points, vehicle dispersal, and reducing time spent on key road sections, the authority ensures residents, delivery operators, and private commuters experience more predictable journey times, even as the city grows.

Commuter Experience to See Immediate Gains

Professionals working in Downtown Dubai, DIFC, and surrounding districts often face delays when heading east during evening hours. The new exit will immediately benefit drivers heading toward Dubai Creek Harbour, Al Warqaa, and parts of Dubai Silicon Oasis via Ras Al Khor Road.

Taxi drivers, delivery fleets, and public transport support vehicles will also gain a more reliable path through the city centre without contributing to core congestion hotspots.

RTA has noted that traffic sensors and data from its intelligent transport monitoring systems will continue to evaluate the success of the new exit, with further adjustments possible depending on usage trends over the coming months.
