Dubai Metro’s UAE Exchange Station Gets a Makeover—Here’s Its New Name

The Red Line’s final stop in Jebel Ali has officially been renamed after a major UAE pharmacy brand.

The final stop on Dubai Metro’s Red Line has undergone a significant transformation. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially renamed the UAE Exchange Metro Station to Life Pharmacy Metro Station, effective May 2025, under a 10-year naming rights agreement.

This rebranding move places the station, located in the Jebel Ali Industrial Area, under the banner of one of the UAE’s largest healthcare and retail chains—Life Pharmacy Group. The deal marks the latest in a growing trend of corporate partnerships across Dubai’s public transportation network.

A new chapter for a key Red Line stop

Previously known as UAE Exchange Metro Station, this stop has long served as a vital hub for commuters heading toward Jebel Ali. The renaming reflects a broader corporate initiative by the RTA to link prominent metro stations with iconic local brands, further integrating the business landscape into Dubai’s daily life.

RTA plans to complete the transition, including signage and digital updates, by August 2025.

A strategic partnership beyond just naming rights

The agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony attended by representatives from Life Pharmacy Group, Hypermedia, and Mada Media—the official advertising concessionaire appointed by RTA.

Abdul Rahuman Abdul Nazzar, Chairman and Managing Director of Life Pharmacy Group, emphasized that the partnership goes deeper than branding.

“This partnership goes beyond naming rights—it reflects Life Pharmacy’s broader commitment to the city and its communities,” said Nazzar.
“Linking our name to a key metro station demonstrates how Life Pharmacy has become an integral part of Dubai’s daily rhythm and movement.”

The rebranded Life Pharmacy Metro Station will serve thousands daily, boosting brand visibility and reinforcing its presence in Dubai’s retail healthcare sector.

A growing trend of metro renamings in Dubai

This is not the first metro station in Dubai to undergo a rebranding in 2025. In March, RTA partnered with Al Fardan Exchange to rename Al Khail Metro Station to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station.

RTA continues monetizing station names, supporting Dubai’s economic growth and partnerships. These rebranding efforts also strengthen community recognition of local brands through repeated daily exposure.

Changing Name matters, because:

For Dubai residents and daily commuters, metro station names are more than just labels—they often serve as navigation anchors and local identifiers. When a station changes its name, it can affect wayfinding, business references, real estate listings, and even taxi directions.

To minimize disruption, RTA allows dual names temporarily and updates digital platforms in advance.

Naming rights boost RTA’s revenue, funding transit upgrades beyond public sources.

Expectations during transition

From now until August 2025, riders can expect:

  • Updates to onboard metro announcements
  • New signage across the station platforms and entry points
  • Refreshed maps on metro carriages and within stations
  • Adjustments to RTA journey planning tools and third-party apps

UAE Exchange is off this station, but the RTA hasn’t confirmed future naming rights.

The future of branding in public transport

As Dubai continues to expand its metro network, branding opportunities like these will likely become even more prominent. They represent a unique way for companies to tie their identities to the city’s evolving infrastructure, while giving commuters familiar and recognizable landmarks in return.

For Life Pharmacy, this move aligns with its expansion and brand integration strategy, especially as it continues to serve communities through more than 400 retail outlets across the UAE.

Life Pharmacy Metro Station is now officially on the map, marking another step in Dubai’s evolving transit identity. As the city expands its transport network and smart mobility solutions, naming rights deals highlight the deep integration of businesses into urban life.
