Kapil Sharma, a household name in India’s comedy scene, is all set to surprise his fans with his latest movie, ‘Zwigato’, directed by Nandita Das. The film is set to release in theaters on March 17th, and the recently-released trailer promises an exceptional non-comic avatar of Kapil.
In ‘Zwigato’, Kapil plays the role of a food-delivery rider, struggling to make ends meet. He accepts requests from the Zwigato app and delivers food to various people at different locations, always striving for the best rating. However, things take a downturn when his rating starts to drop, leaving Kapil frustrated and at his wit’s end.
The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Shahana Goswami, who plays Kapil’s wife, starting a new job, something he doesn’t approve of. The film’s plot highlights the struggles of delivery boys and how they must fight against the odds. The film also features Sayani Gupta and Gul Panag in special roles, alongside Shahana Goswami.

When asked why she chose Kapil for this role, director Nandita Das explained, “The film attempts to make visible what’s hidden in plain sight. And for this, the cast and crew has serendipitously come together. One day, Kapil Sharma popped up on my screen! I hadn’t seen his show, but I could see him wholly representing the ‘common man’, despite not being one anymore.”
‘Zwigato’ has already reached on a global level as it premiered at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022 and then had its Asian premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival. It was also screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
The movie is produced by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives. This social satire promises to be a must-watch for fans of Kapil Sharma.
