Nitesh Tiwari is cooking up a larger-than-life retelling of Ramayan, and it’s stacked with an epic star cast. We’ve got Ranbir Kapoor channelling Lord Rama vibes and Sai Pallavi gracing us as Sita Maa. It is also rumoured that Sunny Deol might bring his powerhouse presence to Hanuman’s role. While Bobby Deol is all set to embody the massive Kumbhakarana and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Yash has officially confirmed that he’ll be stepping into the shoes of the mighty Ravana.
Yash Steps Up as Ravana in nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan
After months of keeping us on the edge of our seats, Yash has finally broken his silence. The KGF star is ready to wreak some havoc as Ravana in this highly-anticipated mega-project. And he’s not just acting, he’s also co-producing the film, aiming to take Ramayan to international heights. Talk about pulling a double duty!
In a recent chat with Hollywood Reporter India, Yash reveals how he got roped into the film. While working on the VFX for his upcoming movie Toxic in LA, Yash crossed paths with Namit Malhotra, the head honcho at DNEG and Prime Focus. Namit had been nursing the dream of Ramayan for years, and when he pitched it to Yash, it was an instant connection. They shared a vision of making this tale not just grand but global.
Why Yash Couldn’t Resist Playing Ravana
Let’s be real – if Yash was going to be part of this cinematic marvel, it had to be as the Ravana. Why you ask? His whole intense look would be perfect. “For me, Ravan is the most exciting character to portray. I admire the nuances and complexities of this role, and it offers a vast opportunity for a fresh interpretation. As an actor, I am thrilled about it, and I hope our approach will be unique,” he expressed.
And while Ranbir was already locked in as Lord Rama before Yash came on board, the casting of Sai Pallavi as Sita was a joint decision. “As for Sai Pallavi, that was a collective decision. I believe this film needs representation from both the South and the North. Nitesh ji always envisioned Sai Pallavi for the role, and I concurred that she was an excellent choice,” he noted.
An Epic in the Making
Marking the first official casting confirmation for this ?835 crore extravaganza, Yash’s involvement is already setting the hype meter off the charts. He hinted that Namit approached him cautiously about the role of Ravana, ensuring that it would be portrayed with the utmost respect. And with a budget like this, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
With Yash on board, this movie isn’t just aiming to be a blockbuster – it’s looking to be a global phenomenon.
