Remember Vivek Oberoi? The star who gave us iconic hits like Saathiya, Company, and Shootout at Lokhandwala? Well, he’s not one to frequent Bollywood screens much anymore, and there’s a reason why! The actor, now settled in Dubai running his business empire, recently spilled some serious tea about the darker side of the industry. And oh boy, brace yourself for some shocking revelations.
Vivek Oberoi on Underworld Threats and Bollywood Sabotage? Say What!
In a jaw-dropping interview, Vivek opened up about the turbulent times he faced in the industry, all thanks to some “powerful people” who, as he claims, sent threats from the underworld to derail his career. Yup, you read that right! The man behind Omkara’s infamous Kesu Firangi wasn’t just battling Bollywood politics, he was facing real threats to his life.
Talking to ABP, Vivek confessed, “In my case, the intensity was overwhelming. I faced trolling, public humiliation, and professional sabotage. Projects were snatched away from me after I signed them, and I received threats from the underworld. The police had to provide me with an armed guard and a gun. Things went that extreme. One’s peace of mind can become zero in such situations. I was still ok as I had an armed guard, but what about my mother, sister and father? I was constantly worried about their safety.”
Can you imagine? Bollywood dreams turning into a real-life gangster film! But the worst part? Vivek wasn’t just worried about himself but also his family.
Picking Himself Up After the Storm
Despite facing such intense setbacks, Vivek refused to let the darkness consume him. He revealed how difficult it was to focus on his work amidst all the chaos, saying, “You get so psyched that it starts affecting your work, how do you concentrate on work and perform? It becomes impossible to focus. So, you start getting into a downward spiral, and things become bad. So, at some point, you have to square the slate and say, ‘Enough, now I have to remove this from my system and focus and concentrate…,’” Vivek concluded.
Now, Vivek might not be front and center in Bollywood like he once was, but he’s thriving in his new chapter. The actor was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty, and his performance was praised by fans and critics alike.
Post-series, he packed his bags and headed to Dubai, where he’s busy running his business like the boss he is. But one thing’s for sure, we do miss seeing him on the big screen!
