First look: Vidya Balan makes a comeback on the silver screen with murder-mystery ‘Neeyat’

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan is one of the exceptional talents Hindi cinema has witnessed. From her early days as a TV actress to becoming one of the most sought-after leading ladies in Bollywood, Vidya has carved a niche for herself with her versatility and authenticity. Now, Vidya Balan is all set to grace the silver screen once again with her much-awaited film ‘Neeyat’. After enthralling audiences with her digital releases like ‘Shakuntala Devi’ (2020), ‘Sherni’ (2021) and ‘Jalsa’ (2022) on Prime Video, the versatile actress is now geared up to make a grand comeback to theatres after back to back OTT releases.

On Monday, the actress set social media ablaze with her latest Instagram post. She took to her account to unveil the first poster of her much-awaited film. In her characteristic style, Vidya left her fans on the edge of their seats as she teased them with the intriguing caption, “Motives will be revealed! Secrets will shock! #Neeyat releases on 7th July 2023 only in theatres.”

About the movie ‘Neeyat’

Prepare to be swept away on a rollercoaster ride of suspense, as Vidya Balan dons the hat of an unlikely detective in her upcoming film. The plot thickens as she delves into the murky waters of a billionaire’s party, where nothing is as it seems, and every guest harbours a secret or two. This film is a thrilling concoction of suspense, drama, and intrigue.

The upcoming movie ‘Neeyat’ boasts of a star-studded cast with powerhouse actors like Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Shahana Goswami, Niki Walia, Dipannita Sharma, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, Danesh Razvi, Ishika Mehra, and Madhav Deval in pivotal roles.

The mastermind behind the film is none other than Anu Menon, who last collaborated with Vidya Balan in the 2020 superhit ‘Shakuntala Devi.’ Anu Menon’s repertoire of directing credits also includes multiple episodes of the internationally acclaimed series ‘Killing Eve’.

‘Neeyat’ marks the reunion of the team behind ‘Shakuntala Devi’, including Abundantia Entertainment, Anu Menon, Vidya Balan, and Prime Video. This also marks the second theatrical co-production venture for both Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video. The movie hits theatres wordlwide on July 7, 2023.
