Dheeraj Kumar, who wore many hats, from charming hero to visionary TV producer, passed away in Mumbai due to acute pneumonia. He was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in critical condition and was on ventilator support before breathing his last. He reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at 11:40 am on July 15.
While the industry and fans mourn, the Kumar family earlier requested privacy, asking for prayers as Dheeraj battled the infection. Sadly, destiny had other plans. Just months ago, we lost Manoj Kumar, and now his younger brother joins him, leaving behind a void no tribute can fill.
If you’ve watched Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Swami, or Heera Panna, chances are you’ve seen Dheeraj Kumar lighting up the frame with his soulful presence. A regular in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema, he was the kind of actor who didn’t need to scream to make a statement, his eyes did the talking.

With spirituality-meets-drama storytelling, he gave Indian households divine viewing with a side of sanskaar.
While mythos may have been his forte, Dheeraj wasn’t afraid of experimenting. His company also produced shows like Ishq Subhan Allah, a refreshing break from the typical TV tropes and proof that he was always one step ahead of the game.
