Making the Most of Your Time Off: A Yearlong Celebration of UAE Public Holidays 2024

In an eagerly awaited announcement, the UAE Cabinet has revealed the much-anticipated schedule of UAE public holidays 2024. With at least 13 occasions on the horizon, including four extended weekends, residents can look forward to an exciting year ahead.

New Beginnings: A Three-Day Start

The year commences with a bang as the first holiday of 2024 falls on January 1, creating a perfect three-day weekend for residents to kick back and relax after welcoming the New Year on the preceding night.

Eid Al Fitr Extravaganza: A Six-Day Break

The highlight of the public holidays is undoubtedly Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. This festive occasion, spanning from April 9 to April 12, offers a spectacular six-day break when combined with the weekend, providing an ideal opportunity for travel or a refreshing staycation.

Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha: Five Days of Celebration

June brings another extended break with Arafah Day on June 16, followed by Eid Al Adha from June 16 to June 19. This combination, along with the weekend falling on June 15, results in a generous five-day period for residents to observe and celebrate these significant Islamic events.

Islamic New Year: A Day of Reflection

Though falling on July 7, the Islamic New Year, Muharram 1, provides a solitary day off. While not extending the break significantly, it offers a valuable day for reflection and relaxation, particularly for those without a Sunday weekend.

Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday and National Day: A Grand Finale

Details about the exact date of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday, believed to be on Rabi Al Awwal 12, remain uncertain. However, the grand finale of the public holidays arrives with the National Day celebration on December 2 and 3. Falling on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and combined with the preceding weekend, this marks a splendid four-day holiday to conclude the year on a high note.
